Custom Joint protector question

I have seen a few people start threads about custom joint protectors. My question is do you have to send them the cue, or will quality pics do? Also who do you recommend?

Custom J/P's are just that, custom. I like to have the butt or a shaft to do them perfectly.

If you had a pair of quality calipers, you could send the measurements to whoever is making them. However, if you're spending say $75 for a set and you draw your thumbnail across the joint and you can feel a pronounced ridge, you might not be happy so that is why Tommy mentioned that.

Some people might not care, but if you are making them for your prized cue, then you'd want them perfect, right.

Makes sense to me. I don't like sending my cue through the mail, never had any problems. I'm worried about an potential warpage factors from the cue laying sideways, temp/humidity changes, or getting lost. Will there be any makers at the DCC I could drop my cue off to?

jp's

I have had numerous ones made just by sending pics of the cues and using digital calipers to measure the butt and shaft sizes. I'm talking for Southwest, Nitti & Omen cues so not junk.

all came out perfect

work done by Jim Baxter: jbaxte@earthlink.net

he has a bunch of pics of samples available, like 100's
