I am looking at buying a pool table however I am having a hard time finding a used diamond pro in my area at the right price. I am looking for some alternatives in the 2-3k price range including mechanic costs.

No table info for you but I gotta say I love the screen name!! LOL:thumbup:

Get a GCI or II on Craigs List for $600-$1200. Add rubber, cloth and set up $700-900. Total 1300-2000.

On Dallas Craigslist there was this listing:
In mint condition, heavy duty, commercial pool tables. I have 10 tables for sale. 400$ for each table contact Miok (Mee-ok) 214 557 0325 OR 972 437 3748 (Minor #)
From the picture they appear to be Brunswick Gold Crown III's. Check it out, may be a great deal plus you'd get your pick of the 10 tables. Good luck with your quest.

I contacted that seller. They said the tables were made by Gandy and they are 4x8s. Anyone familiar with this brand? If I were to pick one up I would definately re-cushion and put simonis on it.

There are 2 Gandy 9 footers in my community clubhouse. They're extremely well built and play very well. Up there with Oldhausen and Brunswick. Check on the "Ask a Mechanic" section of this forum for their opinions of a Gandy. Also ask for some references for a really good mechanic in your area. Don't spare the expense when putting some good rubber on the table as well as Simonis cloth. A Gold Crown may be slightly higher regarded than a Gandy, but at $400 the Gandy's a steal. Good luck in whatever you decide.

Gandy

Gandy is now a defunct company. Parts may be hard to run down if needed in the future. Just thought I would throw this info out there. GC 3's are nice tables for the money and seem to be everywhere. Something will pop up sooner or later in your area. Be patient and get the table you WANT and not one that will just WORK. This is an investment and they are not easly moved.

Bang for the buck the used Gold Crown market is a great way to go. Just need to be patient to find one in good condition / right price. Do this and you'll have a table you will be happy with for a long time. Same goes for a used Diamond, but there just aren't nearly as many of those out there.
