Tip observation

No not another "Whats the best tip?"
I have a Triangle tip on one cue and an unknown Layered tip on another(person in a Billiard store that does tips said it was a Moori?).
I have noticed that once in a while I will mis cue with the triangle but never with the layered tip.
Is this a common thing with theses two different tips. I always chalk well.

triangle is a helluva tip but requires a lil maint. to keep chalk. i've literally gone weeks just chalking my kamui black soft. your experiences are pretty much same as mine.

I play with a Moori soft. Miscues are very seldom encountered. Had some miscues with harder tips when the cue ball was up against the cushion, but not with the Moori. I've played with about 12 different tips over the past 3 years and find that, for me, the Moori's the best. Keep in mind that it's very subjective. So play with what feels good to you regardless of others opinions.

How often do you scuff or tap your triangle that miscues? I wonder if I could sell 1 million Ronco tips (set it and forget it)

I usually scuff my tip (I like Sniper tips) before I go to play and I don't usually miscue because of the tip. When I miscue it's my fault for making a bad stroke......

I know a few people who play with Triagle tips and they are constantly working em. a few years back I went to a moori med-hard and wouldn't change. The last time I miscued was because someone left a cube of Pioneer (The worlds worst chalk) on the table and I didn't realize I grabbed it instead of my cube of masters.

bingo...softer tips are more forgiving, hard tips will show your strokes faults.

my game got much better when i switched to harder tips, i only did cause i hated the mushrooming that the soft tips gave me, when i changed i miscued alot but the pay off was well worth it.

The layered tip does not feel soft and has shown no signs of mushrooming.
I do nothing to it,just chalk and play.

i play with triangles and I get some good ones and bad ones, they are never the same twice in a row. sometimes they are junk, once in a while I get a good one that lasts a long time. Its a pain but worth the effort for me, anyways.

I cant make layered tips work, they all seem to get hard on me after a while.

The billiards store where I get my tips put on has a machine that can tell the hardness. I wonder if they check the tips before they install them to see if they are good or not. Next time I go there I will ask. I say this because I have never gotten a bad tip from them.

that helps alot, at least then the hardness is consistant. if they have any good Triangles please let me know. I'm awalys shopping for some. hope you been good.

I have been fine. Tell me what hardness rating you are looking for and I will stop there and check it out.

I always hear about how layered tips harden the lower they get (like that is a BAD thing). The Everests I've played with for a couple of years play their best when they get down REALLY low. lol. Maybe I just have weird tastes. I work them down quite a bit after they are put on. I'm going to try the Kamui Black medium, and maybe it'll play like 1-2 layers left on an Everest, right from the get go.

Before the Everests, I always played Triangle and liked them, but after I got a cue with the Everest tip (stock), I liked them a little better. Mostly just the less scuffing and shaping....My tips need replaced so infrequently (playing mostly 1P), that I don't mind spending a little more coin for less (maintenance) work.
