Update on the Des Moines pool scene

:clapping:
Here is the details in the email I got.

Looks like greek to me -- I don't play poker and H/L Omaha is the devil.

Athens double dipped Jody? Would have been a good set to watch.

Any good news? Everyone quit playing for the winter??

8-ball tournament in Osceola on Sunday. Local tournament, decent turn-out --- Make enough for gas down there.... :clapping: or just get taken off by some locals. Put the Terrible's boat in your schedule and it's a heck of a trip!

Caveat emptor

Nope, apparently no one wanted anything changed

That's what good campaigning can do!

I heard some people talking about wanting winner breaks and even loser breaks over alternate break, guess that got no traction.

Biggest thing people were going nuts over did surprise me though. Maybe 8-10 people huddling around the board all talking about how they hate the tourney is seeded for so many different reasons. Some because they drive in from 45 mins plus just to get there so playing 30 times is too tough for them. Another thing people hate about the seeding is the fact it totally ruins the calcutta, Justin knows what I'm talking about (I saved a $20 spot). People also felt like a random draw would make things shake out a little differently, if the tourney is supposed to be about fun then why seed it?

I really couldnt care less about any of those things. I like 9 on break and rack for each other though. Too many 30 second rackers now and they all break better than SVB and Donny Mills combined! Wait don't care much about that either though.

What really annoyed me was 7 tables. That was what we had for the tourney for the majority of the day. That's so brutal. The APA dominated the building and that was clear. They spend way more money so I get it. Just sucked to have the tourney going and the place be wall to wall packed, if you played on an end table you constantly had people walking by the table. I was on a critical 9 ball and I had to wait well over a minute to shoot it, I still made it but I was so sharked by the time I shot it. That was a tough to fade situation.

Fyi

In case any gamers or anyone who has kids who loves games is out there. I don't have time to play these anymore and might be looking to get another cue to add to my collection. Free shipping in Des Moines . Yes I am keeping my other cue, just would like either to have a cue made, or trade for a cue.

Does anyone want to gamble tonight? I feel like going to Big Dogs' but would like to know I have a game first. I'd like to play some long race one pocket.

I believe he won his first and then lost his second in the 1 pocket. Banks I think he got to the 5 round?

We just got back from The ACS tourney in Riverside, IA. 16 entries in the masters. Hargens, O'Meara, Roach, Je.Bowman,Ja. Bowman, Baker, Frieders, Greg Shephffert(Sp?), Oscar, and a few others and me. How ya like my chances!!!! I will go out on a limb and say that I'M NOT A MASTER!!! The two people I played in singles never missed a shot unless it was a bank or a kick. And there were only 3 misses in 16 games by my opponents.

Bowman lost in the second round and came through to play for the losers side against the guy who put him there. Can't remember name. Hargens won the winners side.

Not sure how many teams there were(75-100?) but ours ended up 13-16th. Not bad for some poker playing bums! I think we barely covered table cost with the winnings!

On a positive note.... We averaged to close down the poker room about 2:45am all 3 nights and I took home more than 1st place did for team! I think I tipped the dealers more than we got for our finish in team though!

Paying quarters for table sucked......

The tables played well until Saturday night when everything was dirty and the balls were jumping off each other and clinging together.

Matt broke a rack and one of the wing balls almost left the table from the rack. Was one of the strangest things I've seen.

Fun time and would probably go back.

Rene's team won the winners side of the girls. Not sure how that ended up.

So they missed their kicks and banks??? Are you sure they were Masters players? ;)

Not everyone banks and kicks as good as you, Masters Mikey!!

Greg Shephffert(Jesse James twin?) missed one bank and a kick, otherwise ran out. He's a Masters player for sure. Lost to him 6-4

Danny Roach, which suprised me, only missed one kick shot. Ran out all three of his breaks, two of my breaks(one scratch and one dry) and kicked out from a safe I played. He beat me in less than 25 minutes. Kind of embarrassing but when your opponent shoots that good, the only thing you can do is sit back and watch! Danny is a Masters player most definately. Lost 6-0 Danny also beat Jerod F.

Hey, I know those guys...

Greg Shefferts (aka Sheepdog) from CR is a Master player. When he's hot, he's hard to beat. And Danny most definitely is a Master. Anybody is doing good if they beat either of them.

I was there, but only for teams. We were 2 and out. Man, there was some players there. If you measured the skill level of Open players at our State torunaments and it was say a scale from 1 to 12, I'd say the level at that tournament was from 5 to 12. Not too many give away players there at all.

Had a good time, be back next year. sorry I misse you guy from DM, but I guess I wasn't really looking too hard.

The Poker room was sick. All that can be noted.

It was a nice tournament - although I really like green's fees better.

I saw you. You looked either focused or pissed! LOL

I figured I'd give you your space!

It was kind of nice to see Nick Varner AND Tom Rossman at the same venue. Times must be rough for BOTH of them to be in "Riverside, IA" ???????

Maybe they were drawn in by the plethera of boobies accompanying the wait-staff in the casino!!!! I love boobies.:woot::canoodle:

One hole is heating up, Jason Chance plays Ralf Souquet. I think Jason will beat him. Shuff dismantled Souquet earlier in the tourney.

I need Dee Adkins to put a scar on Sylver Ochoa's ass for my sweat bets.

Scott has to play Mika, please don't leave that man an open shot!

heh.

Makes sense to me! Welcome!

The Kaiser struck Jason Chance with a fatal Blow.

Dee Adkins beat Sylver which makes me happy.

Scott beat Brumback and then Mika to remain undefeated. On to the dangerous Shane Winters for Scott, he should win 3-0 in 17 minutes if he's on point.

Wasn't pissed, musta been focused. I'll always respond politely to any 'howdy'. You shoulda said hey. Maybe next time.

I really enjoyed Dr Cue as well. I talked with him after one of his shows. He is so intense when discussing pool in general, you can just tell it is one of his true loves in life. Sure wish we could get him back at ISPA. I know everyone would enjoy his show and I think he really liked our venue. I know he really appreciated when we set up blechers for him one time. He told me that was a really good idea...then we quit hiring him :(...somebody thought that the Elite Tournament would offer enough entertainment :o.

I suppose I'll see some of you in a couple months (Waterloo then Davenport).

Final 8 of the DCC is interesting in the one pocket.

Alex and Scott are both still undefeated.

Brandon Shuff is still going strong.

Earl, Jeremy Jones, Shannon Daulton, SVB and Niels Feijen are also in. I won my sweat bets with Scott so now it's time to root Alex and Shuff on. Hopefully that's the final.
