To fold or not to fold..I have recovered many tables and was wondering if their was a reason to fold the side pocket cloth.

If you're talking about a bar table like a Valley...yes, there is. On a Valley rail where you see the cloth pulled around the backside of the rail so tight to avoid putting in a fold...take a look at the pocket facing...it's no longer straight...it curves over because of the cloth being pulled so tight. Another problem is that when the cloth is pulled that tight, all the stress of the stretch is right at the point of the facing....which in time with wear on the cloth....eventually wear right through the cloth at that point on the facings. Putting in a fold removes that stress right at that point of the facings.
Thanks , I just did a table not long ago and noticed there were no folds at the side pockets. makes sense about the wear and stress .
I prefer folds. spray a light mist of spray adhesive where the fold will go and it will lay down very nice.
Would a small amount of contact cement rolled on work also ? I have heard some mechanics gluing the slate cloth down ? On all tables.
no. i use a mist only
