I realize that CTE is a controversial subject and I am not posting this to argue a point. I just wanted to take a moment to say, for those of you that are interested in Stan's work, it is very well done. I have had several conversations with Hal Houle a few years back and I did not get enough to develop a method of aiming that was better than what I was already doing.

Stan's presentation is excellent and turned the lights on for me. I am making lots of balls and could not be happier. I am probably not doing it right but I don't care. I am making balls with greater confidence and consistency than I ever have.

Thanks Stan. Best $45 I ever spent.

There is nothing controversial about it, its a proven aiming system that works, just like ghost ball is an aiming system and so on. Some people have there own systems they prefer is all. Some people just are stubborn and hard headed when it comes to new ideas and refuse to except them as part of the game, like lou ferrigno!

It is hard to argue with success, you are making more balls, equals you are doing something right. I too am a great fan if I can use that word of Stan's Pro One. I wanted to understand the CTE part but wanted to eliminate the manual pivot. Once you are using Pro One it becomes what we all want... automatic. Only time I want to shift gears is kicking it into high.

Please, do not rush away from the manual pivot. Learn it, you will always use it from time to time. Great reference tool and good to use on some tough shots.

You are right . On some really long shots I use it and if a tough one comes up where my eyes don't get an auto lock on the reference points.

I agree...it 'turned the lights on for me'...too!!

I am a sucker for buying DVD's. Probably watch and read more about pool than I play or practice. Probably know more about pool than many of the players that beat me. Some just play and don't learn anything from books, or videos and learn that way.

I bought Stan's DVD. It is not something that will automatically make always win. Stevie Moore and Landon did place fairly high at the Derby but didn't win so that proves that point.

I look at it as another tool that is available. It is similar to trying to repair a car. You can have all the tools but other knowledge and skills are required. A simple thing like removing a nut has many tools available. A pair of pliers, open end wrench, box wrench, torch, adjustable wrench, hammer and chisel, socket, and etc. The mechanic will use whatever is the easiest and fastest. No matter which one is used the results are what matters.

I may not use Stan's method for every shot but it is available and sure shortens the learning curve. There are a few things that may not be clear in the DVD but Stan tells you that you have to practice and become comfortable and familiar with the system.

Winning tournaments have so many other factors involved. This is a center ball system for pocketing. Someone else implied similar sentiments about me now winning the U.S .Open because of the positive comments I wrote regarding Pro One. Though Stevie or Landon didn't bring in the big one , I am positive that it brought to their game just what it's supposed to do.
I will say this , it will do the same for your game as well. The key is attention to details. What you might miss watching or hearing will be the difference in the learning curve to his method. Best of Luck

I'm all in on this one.

If all I have to do is pay $39 to decode what would take reading 20,000 vague, contradictory, and inflammatory posts on at least 4 different sets of boards - where the concept is probably completely misunderstood anyway - then I'm all for it.

My vote for the Nobel Peace Prize 2011 goes to Stan Shuffett.

It is far easier to decode this video than sift through the endless lines of drivel about the subject weighing down the internet.

"I'm probably not doing it right, but I don't care, I am making balls with greater confidence and consistency than I ever have."

So, if you probably aren't doing it right and don't care, why have it and more importantly, how in the world can you attribute making more balls to this since you aren't doing it right.

Funny! But oh so true.

Simple logic; good Post!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not blaspheming anything here; but, IMO few seem to comprehend things, yet hug to the max!! I'm still openminded but I can see a parallel with Geno's "system" where everyone hugs, but no one can answer the simplest questions (Even Geno refuses to answer the question asked for a year: If I center the cue beneath my eyes, are my eyes then within 1/8 inch of that perfect spot you continually preach about?

I haven't had time to really analyze Stan's system (big deal, who am I?) It seems to be usable, but too simply presented. Actually, I'm glad it confounds everyone because it stands to shortcut what I consider legitimate pool skill. If you can simply determine whether a shot is "thick" or "thin", then offset your tip and pivot properly, and reliably make balls, where is the challenge we call pool? It seems like cheating. But, I know from experience, pool is alot more than that; and, I believe those claiming this system has transformed their game are hugging and BS'ing. (Stevie Moore was a Pro to begin with. It may have enhances his game, but it definitely did not catipult him into the pro ranks.

Stroke is left out of the equation; and, I believe, if you've got a stroke, you've spent enough time at the table to pretty much know how to aim. Those that are so amateurish as to believe they can circumvent the normal learning curve via this "system" - good luck! Absent stroke, good eye position and alignment, and alot of peripheral knowledge, you're lost! I don't care if you can occasionally do some pivot giration and make a ball. You gott'a not miss, consistently, to be a winner.

CTE/Pro One is supposed to be an exact system - one not reliant on "feel". That was the crux of previous arguments that resulted in numerous bannings. I remain confounded by many issues; for example, bridgelength (It can't be variable, and exact.) I am disappointed that professional edicate(sp?) again prevails over objectivism (like, previously, in consideration of "Perfect Aim", [aka (IMHO) Center the cue beneath your eyes, dumbo - that's all!]).

Dr. Dave, are you still with us? Intimidated? Too polite? Where is Pat?

By the way, I believe Stan produced a pretty good DVD, as far as production is concerned, but it did not resolve that CTE/Pro One is an "exact" aiming system. JMHO

You stated that you haven't had time to analyze Stan'd dvd but go on to put your negative spin in the mix. So in other words your mouth is moving before your brain is in gear. I have read countless things of this sort before the dvd came out and remained closed mouthed because unless I understood what it was, I wasn't going to put anything in writing. It's one thing to profess wisdom and then prove ignorance.
Fundamentals have a lot to do with the game, but it's also an art. Where the shooter can have questionable stroke , stance, ect.
When you ask " where is Dr. Dave or Pat " It is apparent that you are trying to incite. Exactly what you are saying you are not doing.
I hope you take a serious look at yourself . Read this a couple of times and analyze that.

Was told by many great pool players that pool is a simple game. Keep it simple and don't try to complicate it.

Stan comes out with a DVD to makes it simple and too many are ready to bash it.

That is always the problem when someone wants to make something simple.

Look at what they done to Jesus Christ. He simplified everthing by saying that there are only 2 great commandments. The leaders didn't like that because he was telling them that all that extra stuff that they were telling everyone was not required.

Try to make something simple and the first thing you hear is it won't work. When I was in the Jaycees we succeeded because when someone wanted to try something they were never told that it wouldn't work. We would try it and then improve. That is what Stan has done with the CTE.

Don't bash it if you haven't bought the DVD, played it a few times, took notes and practiced the reference shots and self study. If it then doesn't feel like the system works then call Stan as he asked in another thread that he started.

I have the DVD and am not the smartest but not the dumbest either and I have looked at it twice now. I tried it after the first time with some success. The second time made some things a lot clearer as I am sure that the third
time will also. I feel it is not something that you can watch one time and then just pick up a cue and never miss, but if you are able to do that then you really have no reason to complain.

i've been doing pivoting techniques for the past 2 years or so, all I can say to you guys is don't give up on the system. You will soon realize that pool becomes easier when you can aim and pocket balls more consistently :)

I now know why your called TheBook. Good for you ! This thread was started by someone who was excited about receiving his Dvd. And again look where it started to lead.
I like what you had to say.
It is written " Seeing they may see and not perceive, And hearing they may hear and not understand ..for those who bash.
