Any opinions on what color bulbs to use in the light I'm building. I'm using 2 - 4' x 4' drop-in fixtures, egg crate diffusers, 4 bulbs per fixture w/ T8 bulbs, should I use cool white or 5600 daylight bulbs? Also which one is easier on the eyes?
me personally i perfer the something in the 3000-3500 range, ive tried using 5000 before on tournament blue cloth and it just looked weird because of the blueish white light. 2000 is too yellow. This is just my 2 cents. i wasted alot of money expermenting with bulbs in my gold crown light.
Cool White is right in the middle of the light spectrum and is a good choice, i believe 3000- 3500 lumens.
Soft White is around 2500 to 2800 and has more yellow in it.
Daylight has more of a bluish white and is anything between to 4000-6000

concentrate on finding bulbs that have the highest CRI rating in your area. you can find 96 CRI rated bulbs at lowes, and that'll give you the most accurate color on your table. i just wish i remembered off the top of my head what the actual color temperature rating is on those bulbs....
This is probably a dumb idea, but has anyone tried those LED bulbs that are out there? I know they can give off a blue tinge but with tourny blue, would it make a big difference? They sure are bright.
I was thinking of trying it until I realized the screw in LED light bulbs are like 30 bucks each, heh.
