I have been looking for a simple player for a while now. I've narrowed it down to these two cue makers. Has anyone had a chance to hit both cues? I'm interested in any info about these cues (Good or Bad). Thanks

I have known Mike Stacy for a long time. He builds some great cues. I am sure you won't go wrong with either one, but I am partial to Mikes work.

How would you discribe the hit?
I own cues from both makers and neither have the sharp note that I really like, the 'ping'. Cues that have the sharp note, to me, provide the best hit, feedback, and feel. These include most Scruggs and many Olney cues.
Mike Stacey's cues look and play really nice, however, the ones I've had have a distinctive "thwaap' sound when hit. Moderate feedback, good feel.
The one and only Ariel cue I recently purchased neither pings or thwaaps, it's somewhere in the middle. Very good feedback and feel.
Between these two, with my experience, albeit limited with Carameli, I'd have to say the Carameli hit better.
Be advised; my experience with these few cues may not be representative of all of their cue's hit characteristics. It's always best to get one in your hands to try, when possible.
And, of course, it's all subjective. Some may love a good 'thwaap'. ;-)

You are so right about Jeff Olney's cues.....They have additional feed back because of that super solid "ping" feel and feed back. I have one, I'm not even used to yet, and my speed is better than with any cue I've ever played with, for this short amount of time.
I have become a huge Olney Fan. I hear Cory Barnhart cues have a similar feedback or "ping" solidness to their hit.

I don't have experience with Mike's cues, but I do have alot of experience with Ariel's.
I have owned a few Ariels cues and hit with many more.
To me, hit/feel being a subjective thing, love the way Ariels cues play.
But, I LOVE the hit/feedback of my Kevin Varney cues.
My Varney player has incedible feedback, balance, looks, etc...

I've owned cues by both of these makers. I would say workmanship wise they are about a wash, both very good fit and finish and designs. On the secondary market for resale I would give AC a bit of an edge on holding value if the time comes to flip it. I would encourage you to hit with one of each if you haven't already done so. The MS I had was a very stiff hitting cue, too much so for me. When I picked up my AC the first time it just felt good in my hands and I liked the shaft taper and hit. As you know the hit is subjective and each person has their likes and dislikes. If you've tried both go with what feels best to you. If you haven't I would choose the AC just based on my experience. I've never played with a Mike Stacey cue, but i've owned an Ariel Carmeli cue and I thought it played well. I think the big factor between either cue is the shaft and tip that you use (taper, tip hardness, etc.). I used a predator 314-2 on my Carmeli and I thought it played nice.

I went with the Carmeli....
I've hit with several cues since my og post. Mcdaniel, Judd, Dp, Nitti, Mezz, Schon, Pechauer,Titleist Conversion, and Ariel Carmeli. I never got to hit with a Stacey. The "Ariel Carmeli" had the sweetest hit of all IMHO. I feel a ball better just knowing it's in my case. With any luck that feeling will translate to the felt when the cash is posted.
