needle in a haystack...

As stated in my title, I'm obviously looking for a needle in a haystack. I've noticed this place becoming more collector-oriented than player-oriented, so my search may come up empty, but I'm gonna look anyways. My other half has told me tonight that it would be OK to get a new cue as ong as I was going to be happy with what I got instead of selling it right away, so I'm being careful as to what I consider. What's out here for around $500ish? I'd like a plain 4 point cue made by common builders such as DZ, BCM, Woodworth, Gilbert, or comparable builder. I'd like no phillipine cues, and nothing made overseas. Production cues are very limited but Schon may be considered if right cue/price. Lets see what's out there please!

p.s. I'd love to try a Sly but since I'm not familiar with his work, I'm not gonna just get one on a whim. I wanna know what I'm getting guys. Thanks in advance, Jeff

Jim Baxter

This cue hits like a train. Cored with purpleheart from joint to end of butt. If interested $575 shipped.

I'm not familiar with his work so sorry I have to pass. Just asking, what's the big deal with being cored with purpleheart? I see that alot on here on cues priced way more than I think is right for them. Explain please! lol

Purpleheart is a very dense and solid wood and it creates a stiffer more solid hit. IMO

Jeff,

I have quite a few cues for sale in that price range.

If you want one custom built & you like a solid playing cue with 2 really nice shafts built to your specs in less than 2 months.
Contact Paul Sumrall of S&S Custom Cues.
He build real players & they are nice.
Just check out my new player from Paul in the Gallery.
I hope you find just what you are looking for.

God bless,
Michael

bump

BUMP! still looking! A few good offers, a few really bad ones, and a few OK ones but all are appreciated. I know where I live and who I live close to, but I also know I've exhausted my options close to me, so I'm asking here. Thanks for the apparent suggestions though

I might be selling this cue in the near future. It will be lower than your price range if I sell it.

Joe

nice

Nice cue by a great maker, I'm just trying to stay away from sneaky petes. I already have 2 I could use and 1 is a j/b...They are in my signature! I'm more looking for a plain 4 point and it seems Gilbert is the way I'd like to go if anyone has one!
