What is the best way to give up weight and still win!

Good Morning, Steve.

Well, maybe one or two. But, certainly no more.
There is really some good info in this post.

I thank you for your input. Aha, the truth comes out, you can give up weight! Thanks for your compliment on my thread. Keep up the good work.

The Orange Crush to me means the 5 and the break!

I played my wife with the Orange Crush and LOST!!! lmfao. shes no slouch on the table either...but FFS thats a lot of weight. lol.

**For those that don't know "Orange Crush" means she gets the 5 out to win. BUT, they didn't count on the break except the 9. I couldn't make the nine on the break in the back two corners. Any of her balls on the break that I made spotted. And I couldn't foul and make any of her money balls. (she got smart lol).

Race to 7 and I lost, 7-6. she won the bet but I won't get into what the bet was.

I guess another lesson learned...IF you want to practice with pressure, play someone cheap and give them the nuts! something you really have to play your ass off to win. Makes you focus and puts a little more pressure on you.

Carl

Carl, I'll bet you let your wife win! He, He, He. Or you would be sleeping outside with the dog in his house.... Called the dog house! You even made the race to 7 close! You are up to no good!!! Shame on you, Carl....

(I)...banked 4 in a row the long way, on the case game, for the win...so...I was lucky. :D...in fact I was over matched.

I don't understand your logic. Are you saying you didn't have the skill to win?
Reads like you did...but would prefer to have an easier time at it.

...race to 7 games. And I give you 3 games on the wire it is just a matter of time before I run you down. ...Lock N Load.
I don't understand this either. 3 games going to 7 is a large spot.

If the 2 players are ~7b differnce, I think the spotted player is a strong favorite.

It is not a m,atter of time, coz it is a short race!

When giving weight in 9 ball I often offer up one called ball. Always called! I recently gave someone the called 6 because he's not likely to run to the 6 off the break. Giving any single called ball is fairly easy to outrun if you're the better player. Also, when you get up, you can give them one ball earlier to keep them playing. Outrunning the called 7, to the 6, to the 5, and even to the 4, is really not that much of a difference if you can keep the CB out of the pocket.

I do not think that is a big spot!

Hello Black-Balled,
I saw a big match with a spot like that and the player giving the spot went right on by the guy getting the spot. just like another match I saw, the guy getting the spot won one more game and lost 7 to 4. It happens all the time with matches like that. Now if the guy getting the spot gets a ball or 2 then it is a different story.
I saw a man playing in a race to 5, give up 2 games on the wire and win. It depends on both players too!
I saw another player give up a lot of weight in a race to 9 games, he got the break and ran every rack, the other guy never got a shot! And the spot did not help him at all. Thanks for your input.

Now that is a nice way to give weight and win.

Plus keep your opponent playing. Very good JolietJames. I appreciate your input. You have to put the called balled next to the 1 in the rack! At least I do.

One of the best ways I know of is Jenny Craig. Of course there's Weight Watchers, and a few other lesser knowns, but I feel that a Jenny Craig plan will, dollar for dollar, give up the most weight for you to be a winner. :)

Actually I rack the called ball in the row behind the nine. It's too easy to cross side the money ball up front. This has just been my experience -definitely not a fact. It's probably just as risky as the money rattling around between the corner pockets.

The post said give up weight, not lose weight!!!

Big difference, between the two!!!!!

JJ, You are the Man! I like that way of racking as well......

I've heard of really good players giving up "the handspan" in one pocket. The person getting the spot has the ability to move the cueball one hand's width on any shot.

It's a disgustingly huge spot, and becomes proportionally bigger depending on the size of your opponent's hands. :)

Live by this motto: "Give them what they want but never what they need"

If you ever have a conflict with this motto you shouldn't play or you are in a bad game. Just saying.

I have heard of people asking for that in 9 ball!
