for successfully defending his 2011 Kentucky State 9 Ball title. Way to go, Landon!
Best,
Mike
Congrats indeed. A fine player who deserved the win (I won't condescend by calling him young, he's a great player regardless of his age).
I am a bit confused though. I'm a pool player in the second largest city in the state (KY is a God forsaken land) and I was not even aware that we had a state championship. Oh well...
Agreed.
I remember the first time I laid eyes on Landon, at Derby City about four years ago at the old hotel. When I saw him coming in toting a cue on his shoulder, I thought, "Well, at least there's someone here I can beat."
A few hours later, I saw him matched up with some poor schlepp who didn't get more than three shots in an hour.
Since that day, I've learned about him and his dad, and have nothing but admiration for them both. What's so admirable about Landon, though, is what a fine student and citizen he is off the table.
Our sport will be proud of this kid in the long run -- trust me.
Wonder how Landon wins what with using CTE/Pro One? He and Stevie Moore must be just lucky, huh?
Great job, Landon! Miss seeing you and your father at GSBT events! Hope ya'll can get to one soon!

I found out last year that we had a state bar table championship held in Campbellsville. I really wanted to attend but it was held on Easter weekend and being the family man I am I stayed home. So, I hope they haven't changed weekends and told virtually no one about it. But anything is possible I guess...oh well!! One would think nearly everyone pool room in the state would know of such a tournament, wouldn't ya??
Gary
Yeah, it wasn't highly attended this year from what I heard. My buddy Russ placed second to Landon and was very complimentary of the way Landon played. Congrats Landon......
BTW- have you been to Johnny Brumley's place in Lex? I think it is called Diamond Billiards, 3 9'ers and 7 bb's. Don' know how long he has been open, just heard about it.
