What's the rule here? Can the person shooting stripes call the corner pocket for the 8 ball, use bottom to drop both balls to win? I've had numerous different answers,...thought I'd ask here knowing it would be answered correctly...
Thanks!

CueTable Help

In old school pool rules, no, most of the times. In BCA or APA, yes. I put bottom on the cue though to make the 8 ball go forward.

I would say Yes as you hit the 8, and pocketed the 8 in the Called Pocket, an never touched the 3 with the CB.

Ha!! You're right, my bad! was bottom english! And your comment held true from the people we asked at the room. The old timers were like no...that can't happen, while all the league players were saying yes... My opponent was getting pissed LOL...

Thanks CC...That's what I was thinking too...but what do I know LOL..:p

So what would happen if this was a pro event and this shot came up?
Cross bank a 1 pocket shot?...or would they go for the double ball?

Call the ball and pocket, if you make a legal hit onn the object ball......life is good

Thanks for the replies, just confirms my initial thoughts... I'll have to show this to my friend/opponent at the time so that he'll understand.

First off, I don't think a Pro would get into this predicament but, if he/she did, they would most likely go for the follow-in shoot if the table was laid out like that and if the cue ball, 8 ball and 3 ball were lined up that straight. I'm not a Pro so it's hard to tell what a Pro would do. W.W.E.D??? ( What would Efren Do)

Did you ever consider a pro might have their opponent leave them this shot? Also to those that say that they try to avoid banks do you try to avoid playing opponents that play safe to leave you a bank only?
