You are a very lucky man !! ;) LOL.. Hope you enjoy it, I just have to many and they should be played with not stuck in cases inside a gun safe..Anyhow hope you take alot of chedder with it<< ED

thanks arrow

yea i like the hit kinda soft but no deflection.. I feel more confident with it on long shots....

ED was a good friend, a great and honest guy when he let this cue go to another hands, not adding any amount to his pocket when he sell this.

@Servicky, im glad that you've liked it and Happy shooting..

have a nice day to all,
Al

Al, builds a heck of a cue and he is a true craftsman. He has a great attention to detail as you can see in his cues. I would have never sold this one but for me just haveing to many cues and with my illness I just dont want the cues to sit in a gun safe and not be shown or played with ,,<< ED

Interesting design, Al. Very creative & original I must say. May I reccomend a ring design to go with that 8-point scalloped handle design next time you want to copy? :shakehead:

I have always had respect for my fellow builders. My respect for them combined with my own self worth & integrity steer me away from using their trademark signature designs. The Filipino builders have always had a bad reputation for shameless design theft, but I thought it was an unfair stereotype because builders like you were creative & skilled. I guess I was wrong. You aren't any better or any different than what folks commonly think of Filipino builders. You knew damned well what you were doing when building that cue. I hope you made a killing on it because it cost you any respect & support you ever had or would have had from me. But then I guess that wouldn't matter to you. If you had any respect for our craft or others who share this craft, you'd have never built this cue, anyway.

Nobody else would say it. Everybody's afraid of flame wars & confrontation. You straight up stole my signature design element & cashed in on it. That cue is a cheap knockoff POS. And you are the cheap knockoff builder who created it. And I will always refer to you as such from now on.

I was also disappointed when I saw this cue posted recently as it looks just like a Sugartree. Eric has worked hard to come up with his own unique style and Al is very capable of doing the same.

That is f***up big time.
That design has Eric's signature all over the place. I know it is hard to bring something new to the table sometimes but this one is a replica, dead on :(

Who owns segmented diamond inlays? Veneers?

People must hate Rich Little.

Sorry, but I don't get the outrage. Imitation is said to be the most sincere form of flattery.

But I'm not a cue maker so I only see a great looking cue.

sugartree

I have been emailing you eric for about 6 mos on building me a cue i understand your wife was in town and family always comes first in my book. As i write this i understand you on getting pissed as well I used to own zackys Custom Rods and when ppl copied my design on custom bikes i went off way more than what you posted.. I wanted to see how these cues were built how they hit how the construction was in real life. I had seen many from al that looked very much like yours and i have been wanting one of yours for quite some time now.... I got a great deal on this cue i could not pass up so i bought it.... But As to respect your design I will purchase one of your cues today all you have to do is return my phone call and i will have you build me one.. AND if you have time to do this since i want one soo bad here is what i will do for you....

I WILL send you my new cue free of charge so you can do as you please with it......

Well, I am a cuemaker and I only see design theft, unoriginality, and complete disrespect. I don't feel flattered.

In a world of cues where seemingly everything has been done, creating a unique & tasteful, ORIGINAL design is tough. It's compounded infinitely when it's done without the use of inlays. I worked hard to get that design, MY DESIGN, ironed out & fine tuned over several years. No I can't stop anybody from copying & piggybacking. But I can sure as hell do what I can to make them wish that hadn't. I don't have enough to steal to make it worth the pain in the ass i'll be to them for doing so. I won't lay down like other cue makers & let thieves think it's ok to copy my stuff. Not only is it not fair to me as the originator, but also to my buyers who like having something unique & different.

It's not flattery. It's stealing a design in attempt to capitalize on somebody else's hard work. It's a cheap knock-off being offered up for cheap to people who can't or won't afford the real thing. It's not their fault as buyers. It's the builder's fault for crossing that line.

You buying the cue doesn't bother me. Please understand that. I have absolutely nothing against you & can't blame you for liking the design. I love the design, too. That's why I created it. My issue is with a guy who supposedly is a peer, fellow cue craftsman, who absolutely ignored the fact that what he was doing was ethically wrong. I have no doubt you got a great deal on the cue. Knock-offs are always very cheap.

As for your offer, I wish I could help you. I am around 600 emails behind right now & having a tough time catching up. I read & reply to 20-30 per day & the next day I have 40 more. Most of those emails are me telling people that regrettably I am too backed up at the moment to build them a cue. I know that's a lousy excuse for not getting to you but I hope you can understand that I am trying to answer the emails of my current customers first, which means all the newer requests are being held off for a while. This happens every year through the winter months & I expect it but this year has been doubly overwhelming for some reason. All the time I spend on email is time away from the shop. All the time I spend on AZ & other sites is time I spend away from the shop, but is actually only during my break times. I work to keep a balance of building cues, keeping good relationships with my buyers, and communicating in public where I love talking about cues & keeping updated on all the new buzz.

I'd love to someday build a cue for you. You seem to be a pleasant & friendly fellow who, like me, just loves cues. Unfortunately at the moment I can't. I'm sure you'll enjoy Al's cue. I have never doubted his abilities as a cuemaker. I just never expected him to stoop to this level & it feels like a kick in the nuts from behind. It really bothers me. That design is my creativity & hard work. If you want one of my cues, check out New2youq's. Jamie has a couple in stock I think, one of which is scalloped & awesome woods. Otherwise, I am sincerely sorry if my ranting made you feel uncomfortable. Please accept that apology as sincere & understand that it's not you I feel bad about.

Six whole months.... WOW!

:slap:

Really? What YOU will do for HIM?

That has to be one of the most ridiculous attempts to get a cue I have ever heard. You have been IM'ing me for the last few months about asking Eric to make you a cue. I told you specifically to call Jamie/Worminator of New2YouQ's (as I did for my first few Sugartrees) and buy one from him.

Obviously, you decided another route.

No Chris... he has called and we have talked a couple times. Chris Servicky seems like a good guy to me, and like Eric, my comments were directed at the maker and not Chris. I thought we were really close to a deal on a Sugartree, and we may still be.

Thanks for the referral Chris D!
