Dear Scott,

I love you brother, but to knock a $15 entry fee tournament for local league players only, of which we're adding $1000 to the prize money & collecting no greens fees, is wrong on your part. This is our 1st tournament and we have no way of knowing if 10 or 1000 players will attend. Obviously, if 1000 players show up, we can't run a weeklong event. So, unlike other promoters, we're letting the players know in advance. Again, and I stress, this is for local league players only and no one is traveling or going out of their way.

Warm Regards,

Tommy K. - WSOPool Director

I'm confused on the $25 saction fee part at the bottom. Does this mean if i'm not a WSOP league player yet, i can pay the saction fee and play in the tournaments?

Tommy...I'm not knocking it at all. IMO, no promoter should change the basic elements of a tournament structure, after it is advertised one way. You know you will never get 1000 players. How many do you have signed up in your league? I wish you luck, and a great turnout...but I still stand on what I said.

I would not have a problem with the switching to Single elimination if I were playing as long as I had read the flyer first.. It's very clear on the flyer that if there are too many players, the event would be changed to single elimination..

Had this not been mentioned in advance, I'd feel differently. Especially being a $1000 added and only a small entry fee.. YMMV but as a player, I have no issue with this.. It's clearly spelled out from the flyer link in this thread..

The biggest problem with this is everyone has a different definition of "too big" for double elimination. This opens up plenty of opportunity for people to cry how they got screwed, etc.

It would probably be beneficial to set a standard, like after xx players, the tourney will go from DE to SE. That way you are following the rules, not "making them up as you go".

Mr. Hoppe,

Yes, Main Street Biiliards is already one of our host league locations. We actually have marketing materials and posters all over MSB....ask Big Mike, he'll tell you about us...

We have so many host locations throughout the Chicagoland area. If you already play in an organized league at one of our host locations, you'll be eligible to pay the WSOPool $25 Sanction Fee. In this way, we can retrieve a current league handicap regarding your level of play. If you play in a WSOPool League, you would've already paid the $25 membership fee so you would not have to pay an additional $25 sanction fee. If you're willing to assist in starting a WSOPool League at your chosen room, we're willing to hold a shortened 12 week season & your player sanction fees would be used as membership fees!

We will make our final decision as to Single Elimination of Double Elimination feasibility after our 1st event & that decision will be advertised BEFORE our 2nd event. The cutoff will most likely be 64 player SE fields or 96 players SE fields. Again, this will be announced in advance...

Scott

We are only advertising this one way (we have a disclaimer on our flyer to that effect), and have ONLY advertised our tournament that way....as EITHER/OR. Meaning it was either SE or DE based on player participation. We will make a final determination on whether to play "Over 64 Player Fields" or "Over 96 Player Fields" after our 1st event has been played & we will pre-advertise to that effect.

As players, we both would rather know in advance as opposed to being surprised by a last minute change in basic format. With our limited information at this point, if we were to committ ourselves to a firm elimination number, we would say 64 players would be the cuttoff.
