My girlfriend's grandmother just passed away and left her a pool table. The table is in the Bay Area, in Martinez, CA; we need to get it moved out of the house it's in now and up to Portland, OR by the end of May. Ideally, we'd like to go with a person or company who is knowledgable about taking down, moving, and setting up tables so that we could get all those services performed by the same people rather than trying to get several different people working together. So my question is, what's the best way to go about this? Getting rid of the table isn't an option, for sentimental reasons.
A few stats: It's a Fischer table, 8 foot, one piece slate, with ball return. Not sure of the exact model but we think it was made in the 50s or 60s. Unfortunately, we don't have a model number or picture, so that's the best information I can provide.
As I mentioned, we're looking for break-down, moving, reassembly and set-up in our place in Portland, and possibly some maintenance as well (most likely we will want new cloth installed; we aren't sure of the condition, but it sounds as though it was well-maintained, with new rails being put on within the last year). If anyone could give me some leads to get me started, it would be hugely appreciated.
And my apologies if I'm posting this thread in the wrong section; this seemed the logical place.
