One piece cue

A dumb question I'm sure, but wouldn't a one piece cue have less deflection than a two piece cue? I have about 20 cues, all but one of them are two piece, but the one piece feels better balanced. With the emphasis on performance, I'm a little surprised none of the professionals use a one piece. Couldn't be any worse lugging that around as a travel set of golf clubs. Any thoughts?

I want one,

one of these days I'm going to find a custom cue maker to build me a nice plain jane 1 piece

Not sure why a one piece would have lower deflection. I visualize deflection as being a function of the geometry and composition of the shaft in the first few inches from the tip.

Can't see why the joint or lack of same would affect deflection.

But, playing with a one piece cue is a nice feel. If I had a table at home, I would have a one piece cue.

deflection is about the tip end of the shaft...the joint or lack of one doesn't matter

some snooker players play with a one piece cue....some say they like the feel and balance better. pain to transport though. i think its just personal preference, people have played equally well with jointed or one piece cues. some pro snooker players have had their 1 pc cues cut into jointed cues with no adverse effects.

You answered your own question. As has been said, 'squirt' which I assume
is what you meant when you said deflection, is determined by the mass
of the very front of the shaft.

Balance is a very subjective aspect. Of your 20 cues - I would be stunned
if I prefered the balance of the 1 piece.

Do you really think that players who make their living with their cues
would play with 2 piece cues if 1 piece cues played better?

First, thanks for the replies. Obviously, the pros play with cues custom made to their liking, and the joint certainly doesn't affect them. My question was based on the feel of the cue, plus when I read the advertisements for some of the cue makers who talk about the type of joint and solid feel based on whatever type of joint they place in the cue-less vibration, less deflection, based on the shaft, etc.etc. It just seemed to me that vibration, solid feel, and perhaps deflection would all be lessened by a one piece well made cue. As I said, thanks for the replies, and if my question seems ignorant, well, it may be.
Thanks
