I heard last night from an unofficial source that Charlies Billiards will be reopening soon as a Bingo hall! So there gos the last northwest metro pool room. Also I have had reports that Table Stakes/Billiards Ink has reopened as "Felt" (a lot of thought when in to that name)is not very good.
Anybody else have any thoughts on "Felt"?

I am sure the re-opening is more exciting than the name.

'Felt' isn't my first choice for a name of a pool room....

From feast to famine and back to feast  I will check them out in due time. We certainly can't stop going to Family fun cen...um I mean Paradise...excuse me... Hank's. Thanks for keeping us updated Bruce. I would sure like to learn a little straight pool from you someday. I play the game but it does not come easy to me>yet;).

I am at Hanks every Saturday. If you can make it down I would be more then happy to help out your straight pool game.

Thanks, I was able to meet up with Tokyo-dave a few weeks back and it was a blast. He whooped up on me in nine ball and then we played
http://www.einstein-nine.com/ for a few hours. I think he started liking the game once he figured out the basic strategies.

Measureman and Cuebuddy , You need to come to the Springs for Straight pool..
I have RKC here doing 5 different tables for us,,,
2 are done and they play perfect . One more will be done tomorrow.
His work is the best I have ever seen....

Good things come to those who wait! That is the best news I have heard this week and I have had some great news this week:D.

I can't wait to see your room Bud, and play on those perfect tables. Tell Glen I said hi and I am sorry I could not be there to offer him advice on proper techniques of table set up:p.

My thoughts about Felt.....
What can you say, I hope they do very well and maybe there is still time
to change the name.

Wanna start a BINGO team?

Greenfields has about 15-nice bar tables with Simonis cloth, fast.
No 9 ft. tables, nice bar though and pretty good food.

Felts and Hanks aren't too far from Lakewood.

Thanks for the correction:) I think I was thinking of the old CCC up north.

I like the name Felt and the logo. The place is beautiful (thanks to Frank who built it and Joseph the new owner who took the decor to the next level. Ted come down Thursday night.

What kind of tables and how many does Hank's have?

Hanks has 8 9 foot GCS-1 billiards table-2 snooker tables and I have never counted the bar box's but about 6 or so. The 9 footers have been recently recovered and play good not great. Also every day you can play from 10 AM to 4 PM for a flat rate $6.00 per player. And the food is pretty good. The bean and beef burritos are great. And it is like an old time pool room. It's kind of run down with a lot of old rail birds hanging around. Just my kind of place.

This makes me laugh, because the sign on West 38th Avenue reads "Paradise Billiards" except that a couple of the letters have blown off and iit's more or less illegible. Over the back door, you're got an awning that says "Family Fun Center" -- one of the great euphemisms or all time. Families my arse.

Anyway, I guess Hank can't afford his own dang sign. But last time I was there, a 5x10 billiards table was under construction, so who knows. This is the pool hall with the history in Denver, and I'd hate like hell to lose it. The best players from both coasts cruised through here, and I was lucky enough to see them way back in the '60s.

Hank had a temporary sign tied up covering the old Paradise lettering but the wind destroyed it. Yup my kind of place. The billiards table has drawn in a guy that they say is the national champion and I have watched him run a few 6s and better. He really is impressive to watch. Some say he has run a few 10s and better there at Hanks.
