The card counting incident.............
I just gotta hear about the card counting incident..spill the beans.
I've always thought it was a joke that casinos think card counting is
cheating....like accusing a pool player of cheating 'cause he's spinning
the cue ball for position.

First off I need to say I was part of a card counting team for a short period of time. This was back in the late 90's. They added me to the team because they were all getting too hot and the Indian casinos in Wisconsin and Minnesota were catching on.
I eventually got kicked out of all of them also.
And when I go to Vegas I last about 15 minutes at the blackjack table before I get asked to leave. My last name starting with an A is right in the front of the Griffen book that lists all the card counters that have been made out there.
I moved to Lees Summit Mo for work. There were 4 fresh casinos there that had never seen me. If I played it cool and didn't beat them out off too much at a time I figured I might be able to milk it for $50,000 or so.
Darrel worked at Harrahs. I knew him from pool. he was a pit boss at the time. I'd come in there and play each week. You could buy $500 in chips every 2 hours the way the laws were so I would get there just before noon and buy 500 and then buy 500 right after noon. Now I had 1000 to take a little blast at a shoe that the count got good.
If I would win a few thousand I would come back in a few days and lose 500 on purpose and play real stupid. And for about a year or 2 this worked pretty good. This worked pretty good alternating between 4 casinos.
One day at Harrahs the cards were just going really well. On top of the cards being clumped and the count getting real good I was also getting lucky. I was up $3,000 winners just betting 200 to 300 per hand.
I was playing a 6 deck shoe and the count got real good right after the first 3 hands. I shoved out $1000 on 2 spots and the other 2 players on the table asked if I cared if they just got out and watched. That was perfect because the deck was +4 per deck which is really good for me. Now I will get all the cards.
Pretty soon I was up about $12,000. I played the rest of the shoe and just stayed at that amount.
At the end of that shoe I quit. I always quit the table after betting big when the shoe ended. It made me look a little less like a card counter so I thought.
Then I decided to go down stairs and lose a little back and put on the stupid show. I really didn't want to get kicked out.
I sat down and got a little carried away with stupid and lost about 6,000 back. I was kind of mad at myself because I really didn't want to give that much back.
So back upstairs I went. I got there just in time to see the 2 guys that were there before. I counted their first hands and the second hand. I sat down with them and bet 100 on 2 hands to start out and the count got good again. I quickly threw out $1500 on 2 hands and won both hand. I bet $1500 on 2 again and won both hands again.
I quit about 12,500 winner.
I knew if I cashed in over 10,000 that I would have to fill out a form and pay taxes on it. So I went to cash about 9,000 in and they wouldn't do it because I only had a wisconsin drivers license and it was expired by about a month. I wasn't even aware of that.
So I told them Darryl know who I am. He'll vouch for me.
I guess I put him in hot water. They asked him all kinds of questions but he told them all he knows me from is I'm a pool player.
So I waited about an hour and cashed 2,000 in at one cashier and then I went to the other cashier and cashed in another 2,000. They stopped me from cashing any other chips in and told me I needed to get a valid ID.
I just came back each day and cashed in another 1,000 until I had all my money.
Darryl talked to me later and laughed about it. I guess the Casino was trying to imply that Darryl might have known that I was pretty good at counting and playing and he might be in on something here. How sad.
There are lots of players that are counting out there but very few really know what they are doing. These people lose all their money. this is why the casino wants to make sure that your really a threat to them and their riches before they kick you out.
I got kicked out of Harrahs about 2 months latter. This good looking blonde pit bose came up to me at the table and asked If I would talk to her for a minute.
She told me that I had fooled them for a long time. And that they knew that I really knew what I was doing. But the bottom line was I had beaten them out of about 38,000 in 2 years. They really didn't care if I was good or just lucky .
If your winning they don't want you there.
Eventually over the next 6 months I got kicked out of the rest of them in the KC area.
I felt really bad though putting the heat on Darryl. It could of cost him his job at the time but didn't.
That's why he said the Casino didn't have a sense of humor .
Now the games are too tough for card counters so I don't play. Plus I can't be in the smoke. They almost all have smoking. With little old men and women dragging along oxygen tanks. How sad.
Every time I got kicked out of a Casino it was kind of funny. Sometimes the person kicking me out acted like I was stealing their money right out of their pocket. In all reality it is really hard work counting cards and getting the cash.
That's it. The card counting incident.
I would have felt real bad if Darryl would have gotten fired.
Thank goodness he didn't.
