I put some slipstic on my shaft and it managed to get onto the butt of the cue

Now the butt feels really slippy, does anyone know the best way to get slipstic off?

I thought of maybe rubbing the butt down with a cloth and some isopropyl alcohol but just wanted to check

Any advice is appreciated

Without knowing exactly what type of finish is on the cue it would be ill advised to use alcohol as it is detrimental to some finishes. Prep-sol or wax wash or these types of cleaners are usually safe as that is what they are formulated for. They are used to clean auto bodies to prep for painting.

+ 1 on the Prep-sol. Great advice.

Can you tell me which finishes would be effected with alcohol ?

I will look into buying some prepsol

If I were you I would try an automotive product called cleaner wax. Since it is made to clean finishes it should not hurt anything. If that doesn't work try a little automotive Swirl remover / Polish same as above it should not hurt anything it should solve the problem completely.

Apply either with a clean soft towel and lightly buff the entire finish
not only the effected area so the cleaning will blend equally, then remove and buff with another clean soft towel.

Hope this helps.

Prepsol

In my experience the Prepsol brand name, well known in the East, is unknown on the West coast; I received blank stares when I asked for it. In the West, try asking for "wax remover". It works great, by the way and is safe with every finish I've used.
