Randy,
what do you mean?! I respect your opinion without question!!
But honestly, the Vegas tourney has been a struggle for years when it comes to players playing at their "correct" level.

I have played in 35 BCA (PL) National Championships. While a very few players slip under the radar (once) most all players are at their correct skill levels.
I think the old BCA and the new BCAPL have done a wonderful job in controling this issue. The majority of us players know the rules and abide by them.
The issue seems to stem from the few, not the many. It is what it is. I find that very fair.
No other League system works harder than BCAPL.

Yes, that's what happened in 2004. I played in my first BCA event and came in 13-16th and was immediately moved into the Master's Division, where I never competed again.
Yes, I was told that if you are a Master's Player you cannot play in the Senior's Division(S). And no, I have not seen it in the rules anywhere.
Candidly, while this may go against the grain with some of my peers, I do not think that these Senior Titles should be defended, although I can easily understand why a senior player who wins the event would want to defend his title. (I know it's more than money). The reason I am against Senior victors winning more than one event is simply the statistics.
There are a lot of us out there and we're not getting any younger. Each of the seniors who have participated in pool for as long as we have, should have the opportunity to compete and win ONE of these treasured events. Winning two of these events is not fair to those who are aging by the day, waiting for their day in the sun.
Furthermore, I think it is unfair to ban any non-professional players who have never played in any BCA events, regardless of their prowess at the table. These are short races and anyone can win these events.
My feelings and perspectives extend to both the Seniors Event and the Super Senior's Event.
No one who is deemed a professional player should be allowed to play in either event.
Look, I'm not trying to run CSI's business or the BCA pool league's business. They do a FANTASTIC job in evolving pool in America. I just think these two events need to be looked at and that changes should be made for the benefit of growing population of aging seniors as well as the promoters themselves.

I have never played in any BCA event. I was once a BCA Instructor.
My friend wanted to play with me in the scotch doubles event.
My friend (female) has never played in the national tournament nor cashed in any professional event.
Mark said he knew me and my doubles team would automatically be put in the masters division. If I wanted to play in the singles event it would be in the masters division as well.
Seems a bit arbitrary. Thought you had to earn your way to the master
category.
I have played in the APA nationals singles and team. Always got blown out in the singles events. Guess I'm too good to play in the BCAPL now.
I'm 71 years old and I don't kid myself about what is left of my abilities. For me to play in the Masters division would be a joke. The young guns of today break a ton, make one ball and it's run out time.
For me it's mostly break and go sit down. When I do make a ball on the break running out is not even an option because of the mess I leave on one end of the table.
Every year I petition to play in the senior or super senior division. If I win or do well then it's ok if they move me up. Those divisions are not bargains like many might think. These guys know the game and put packages together very well.
One year, before Mark, I believe, they had relaxed the rule to take the master ranking away from anyone over 65 I sent in my entry for the senior division that year and was informed that they were making exceptions to that rule and I was one of them. That rule does not exists anymore it was just for that one year. I will try again next year.
It's been about three years since I've played in the singles of any kind because I feel that I can't compete with the young guns.
So what was the age you had to be to play in the seniors ?
Joey A;
If you played in 2004, that was before we took over.
You need to email Bill Stock and he will review your status - as he will anyone else's.

The problem with these type of issues - is that they should be addressed to our office and not the AZ forums! We have policies in place for petitioning. And over time, they are subject to change.
We try to help everyone out - but we cannot 'patrol' the pages of AZ to see what are the problems. AZ posters cannot solve your problem - we might be able to. So please contact our office.
We do try to be responsive but we are swamped and just got moved back into our office after a very successful event. Some of the comments are counter productive and do not show the whole story.
Thank You,
mark Griffin

I contacted Bill Stock and told him about my deteriorating condition and I have been demoted to the lowly ranks where I belong. After all this whining, I guess that means I will have to show up next year.
Mark was right, you guys didn't help at all but I appreciate you standing shoulder to shoulder with me. Now, when the old guys beat up on me, you can just show me a smattering of sympathy and giggle at me every now and then.
