lathe threading question

I'm about to buy a taig type lathe from a fellow AZ'er. I was just wondering if I need anything special, or if its even capable of threading shafts for ferrules, or butts for steel joints. I think its important to have the steel joint threaded on, but does the ferrule actually need to be threaded??? This lather doesn't have an auto feed. Thanks!

Well without live threading option the taig style lathes wont make threads.. Now you can always buy some thread compression dies from Hightower.
 
Depending on what type of Taig based lathe you have Chris Hightower might be able to help you with a threading attachment as well.

Without power feed and thread gear, you are limited to 5/16 18 die and the 5/8 die for the collar.
