Do you read forum signatures?

Nope, I NEVER do. Reason: I have 'em turned-off in my User CP display options here in AZB. And I also have avatars turned-off as well. The only thing I have enabled are in-line images (e.g. if someone attaches a picture or includes a picture link in his/her post).

For me, the CONTENT of a member's post is more important than the window dressing he/she hangs on it with avatars and signatures. I have more interest in what you have to say, not in what you're wearing. And, I avoid the opportunistic advertising that some members use signatures for (i.e. to skirt advertising costs -- trying to get something for nothing).

I'm guess I'm a compulsive reader. Heck, I even read the back of cereal boxes, and the list of ingredients on the shampoo bottle! I've learned a lot from some of the sigs at AZB. And added lots to my list of saved quotes.

Sounds a little anti-social there Sean. I always read the signature-some are very funny.
 
I usually have no intention of reading them. Not for any reason tho....

Other then those who feel the need to put huge monstrosities down there that take up 10x the space of any post they make. I just find that to be a little rude and pathetic not to mention kinda a sad "HEY PLEASE LOOK AT ME" kinda thing.

I wish the would be off by default when your not logged in.

Yeah, what's up with that? Optimizing my online experience (to be able to read and post during my 5-minute breaks at work) is anti-social? Hmm...

"You *WILL* view those avatars, and you *WILL* read those signatures, otherwise you are not fully engaging and interacting with AZB." Sounds fairly despotic to me!

Although, using the time is money maxim it can be said that spending time as a contributing member of a forum with good content is paying for the advertising that a commercial signature represents.

What irritates me personally on this and all forums I visit are the people who lack taste by putting oversized blaring signatures on their posts. I see a few lines of content then 20 lines of signature with a giant image that is sometimes flashing. My mind goes blank when I see this and whatever their message was it's lost on me.
