 I just placed an order with them on friday. a guy calls me and leaves a message saying that he needs to verify the new account and states that he needs the full credit card # used on the order cause he only has the last 4 digits.

My question is, has this happened to any of you cuemakers when you 1st ordered from them? I'm just trying to find out if this is legit or not. Tried calling them back, it was the Atlas #, but it was after hours.

Thanks

If you have any doubts, Wait til Monday and call Atlas, ext. 414 Eric Hirsh. He's one of the good guys.

i second mikes info, eric is the guy to check with. atlas is pretty careful on accounts. i would suspect they want to make sure you are the one ordering and not someone who took your card. they will also email a conformation of your order to you, so you can verify. i like this because if someone was using my account for ordering-i will know. hope this helps you.

Ok, thanks everyone, I just don't like the idea very much of giving someone I don't know 1 thing about my credit card #. I thinks it's almost as bad as giving out your social sec #

I have never been contacted by Atlas unless there was something that was out of stock, or asking if they can cut the rod down for shipping. All of my orders are done online. Anyone asking for the full card number because they only have the last 4 is someone that SHOULDN"T have the full number, IMO. I agree with Mike, Call and talk to Eric before handing out anymore info.
Good luck,
Dave

What you have to remember is that all the computer systems will only display the last 4 digits of a credit card once it's been punched in. This is because of PCI compliance issues. (Pay Card Information)

With all the credit card information theft out there, be glad they are complying with this. If your card doesn't work for any reason, they have to get the number all over again. They can't just look at all 16 digits.

Hope that helps

I have been using them for a number of products for more than 7 years. In all that time I have never had that problem, I have an wholesale account with them and I always use my Business card for any transactions.

I hope you did not give whoever called that information over the phone. If you did I would immediately contact your bank that issued the card and explain the situation to them. It may be on the up and up, but it is better to be safe than sorry when your card gets maxed out.

I would always say hey let me call you back in a minute, that way you know exactly who you are talking to. I hope it all works out for you.

Good advice!!

yeah, i'm calling Eric 1st thing mon morning. It just seems to odd to just say "ok...here's my # and please use it for whatever you want!" AINT HAPPENING lol

Plus the card went through just fine, my online statement shows it, so really there is no point whatsoever to need my full #. I dunno, but I'll keep everyone posted as soon as I speak with Eric.

Just got off the phone with Eric...

YES...they do require the 16 digit card number for any purchases over $200 and 1st time orders. They need it for address verification. They DO NOT ask for the expiration dates, nor the CVV#. This is a 1-time verification and will not ask for it again in the future.

Thanks for everyone's input on this and telling me who to contact!
