What I learned playing a banger.

DONT PLAY WEAKER PLAYERS, they are a waste of your time, all you do is learn how to beat weaklings. You learn nothing from them, because they dont know nothing, if they did, they would be beating you.

You only get better, by playing those far better than you, and you learn to lose something fierce, and you do an obit and figure out how they are beating you, then you go to work and learn what they are doing.

Stop playing hew haw, that will ruin you. Learn to match up and play for something every time, or sit it out. Turn these losers lose, let them go. Only play for cash, or the table time, a beer, but make it something. Playing for money, steels your nerves.

If you want to play with losers in bars for nothing, just pick up broads with lots of tatoots. Their whole lives are one giant mistake.

How can you tell stronger players NOT to play weaker players and then say you should only play stronger players??? Didn't you just tell them (the stronger players) to NOT play weaker players? Makes no sense what-so-ever. If you are just speaking personally (that you shouldn't play weaker players), and you only want to play stronger players than you....why should THEY play you? And, nice way to give back to the game the way the stronger players you played helped you get better. Nevermind, the RED says it all!!! Guess someone re-GREENED you, but it was all RED when I first replied

I was in the room on Friday night practicing a little straight pool. The table next to me had three players. One older gentleman and two younger men. They were playing eight ball.

It was APA night at the room, and the house was full, but there was no one for me to play. So, I asked the guys on the table next to me if they would like to play me a game of eight ball while they waited for their turn on their own table (they were playing winner-stay-on).

The older gentleman began playing me. I would give him an APA 3 ranking at best, but I was a little bored and I do prefer playing against an actual human as opposed to banging balls around on my own.

He was a very nice man. Very humble, asked a few questions, and seemed quite receptive to my answers / advice and so on.

He seemed quite impressed with some of my shots, which I found to be a little amusing...because they were what most us would consider routine. He was very impressed with the 2 or 3 racks I broke and ran. They (beginners) don't usually take into account the layout of the table or pattern play...they just see their opponent sinking every ball and shake their heads in amazement.

But...finally...my lesson learned...or my point...is that I had a good time playing this guy. I enjoyed giving him advice, answering questions about rules, etc.

I did not seek to humiliate him in front of his son or his son's friend...it was all very casual and sociable.

Sometimes playing a beginner can be good for your ego or confidence, because their perception of your game...while slightly skewed due to their lack of experience...will still serve as a reminder that you are indeed a good player.

Too many times we spend so much time beating ourselves up for missing shots, losing matches, money etc. that we frequently forget that we DO know how to play this game, and we play it well.

The shots, methods, fundamentals we have come to take for granted seem hopelessly out of reach for some beginners, and playing them once in a while, reminds us of this.

So...did I play great pool on Friday night? No.
Did I meet someone new? Yes.
Did I share some knowledge and possibly have a positive influence on someone else in the pool world? I hope so.
Did I have a good time? Definitely.

Thanks for reading.

Just for curiosity, what APA skill level do you class yourself as???

Since your confused and better with a wedge laddie, stick to golf and give up pool, its over your ed.

you dunno listen well do ya laddie. You match up, gamble, and they will then play with even a loser like you. for a fiver a game, they would play the devil him self.

Me give back what I learned, why, I am tellin it to the lid of me coffin.

I'll give you a tease, nothing you can run with, or do any thing with.

Give back to the game, by playing losers, man, you are a loser. The first thing you learn, is to dump losers and only hang with winners. Let the losers, play other losers, they are happy then. What is this place, losers teaching other losers to lose. yes, put me on your ah list, please, I insist.

Players of lower skill level, like myself, have more fun playing the game and are amazed by the intricacies of the game.

we love pool for what it is...a beautiful, amazing game. thats why higher level players need to step down a bit and look at the game from the eyes of the average player...maybe remember why you got into the game...besides the money

Curly you're pocketpoint!?

look, you bottom players, we top players dont owe you s*&**.

You want to play me, get experience, my minimum rate for losers is $20 a set, there, I dont teach you s***, all you get to learn is lose and how to rack. If you want to learn how to play, take a lesson from Scott Lee, or Blackjack, they will teach you how to beat me, me, I wont, why? Why should I. I dont want you becoming me.

I bet that concept is blowin up every ones dresses here, man....

you all go take a pink pill, call me in the morning.

ah, so you are a just a donor....willing to donate to get better. Losing to much better players is your plan to GREATNESS. Keep it up, I'm sure all those champions willing to play for a fiver a game are really sharing their wealth of knowledge. What happens when you pass up the likes of SVB, Alex, and the like? Who will you play? Certainly not those weaker playing losers...:scratchhead: :bow-down:

Again, what, you no hable my native tongue, you no comprehende holmes. Did I not say, you lose, then do an obit, what part of that, did you not understand? You keep playing the bums on the block, see where that takes you dude. Losers, flock to losers, winners, flock to winners. You only advance, by seeking out and playing those, better than you. And they are smart, they want no part of your arse, and getting them to play you, is where its at. Of that, there is no debate on, try and debate that, and you expose your self to being a giant loser. But I think, we have already pegged who you are? You bottom feeders, dont like being told, who you are, do you.

I usually know better, but I know guys who WON'T play anyone considered under their skill level. Always wondered why they thought better players should play them then....I guess they should only if they lesser skilled player is willing to donate. God forbid antone give or get a spot that will actually make them TEST themselves; such is pool.

look I make it easy for them, I give them all the 7, I give the world, the 7. No problemo. It makes them freel good when they hand over all of their money to me. Pool has never been a game for funsies, those are called, well you know...

Money players rule this game, always have, always will.

oooh, resorts to namecalling, big surprise there....rather than being drug down to your level (yes, I said DOWN), I'll wish you luck on however you choose to view and go about your pool playing experiences. Your point of view is no surprise to me, I just find it oxymoronic and quite laughable. I'll go back to playing better and worse players, and giving and taking spots to test myself instead of always trying to STEAL like most seem to....even if it does make me a loser - comprende?

Having spent time in conversation with you, I find you to be a refreshing and classy guy. Very kind of you to spend your time and be forthcoming with your knowledge. Great for our sport.

My god, strike me arse dead with a bolt of lighting....I damn near dropped bloomin dead..

There is at least one person here, with a bloody hope and who has above a 50 IQ and wants to learn. You give me hope, and a reason to carry on.

I may will you one of me old bentleys. Give you one of me kids.
send you my ole lady, something big. How about me yacht? Actually its a canoe with 2 holes in the bottom of it.

Absolutley, you losers, keep playing your fellow losers. What a wonderful idea, but is that not what you have always been doing, and where did that go laddie?

likely in better shape than the "thieves" .... not always broke, owing everyone, in jail, etc. etc. etc. We'll see where it gets you, my guess is not driving around in Bentleys as you claim; well, at least not in one you own. Enough funning with the troll tonight. Some REAL advice would be: try playing without the nuts sometime and test your game....that is, if you TRULY want to get better.
