What kind of cue is this?

I just got this, finally, as a gift from my dad. He's had it for a little over 20 years, and doesn't know how long the guy who had it before him had it. He was told it was supposed to belong to Steve Mizerak, but we have no idea if this is remotely true or not. Im kinda curious as far as the value goes, but I have zero interest in selling. Just wanna learn what I can about this cue.

One things for sure it is old,if it was the mizs stick iam betting that the feruel(spelling)didnt look like that when he use it!good luck with your findings, and someone on az well tell you what you have,as you will find out as time goes by,there are some great and knowledgeable people here at az billiards, that can and will answer any question!i dont know much at all about pool sticks but the shaft does to me look like a meucci.

That is a cheaper import cue like Miz use to sell at the shows back in the late 80s. It may have come from him but I doubt he ever hit a ball with it.

THERE YOU HAVE IT,if cueman says it you can take it to the bank!

but the shaft does to me look like a meucci.

Meucci shafts are 5/16x18, I can promise you thats not a Meucci shaft. I think that shaft is what you would call a "piloted shaft" because part of it screws down into the joint, Meucci's are flat faced meaning the butt of the shaft and the top of the joint are "flat". Someone correct me if I'm wrong on the descriptions.

Oh I see what you're talking about as far as the shaft having a part that goes into the joint. Richiebalto, what did you mean by the ferrule not looking like that if it was a Miz? Just curious if you could tell if it wasnt original, or what exactly you were talking about. Thanks for the help guys.

Hello Ryan & welcome to azb.

Nice looking cue.

I think what Richie may have referring to regarding the ferrule was how there are chalk stains half way down it. Most advanced players, and certainly pros like Steve Mizerak, would have been careful when chalking their cues so as not to discolor the ferrule like that.

I'm not familiar with your cue model but it sounds like cueman has a good idea about it.

Good luck.

Best,
Brian kc
