The fith veneer is in the proing. In the 90's some collectors would only buy the short proing TS Cues. Very old and very rare!
Finish is not origional.

Here are two of the 4 proings. All 4 points have veneers. The poor refinish did the cue little justice but it's shiney and smooth. I wouldn't be suprised if the cue was refinished a decade ago.

Timi's old cues don't get sold very often. And after probably at least 35 years this cue is still straight and solid. Joe said the butt lifts slightly when rolled. I can't find it together or appart.
Love the hit.
Thank you Country Bob,
Nick :)

Joe sold Dan the cue with one skinny shaft with a slight roll. Two straight original 13m.m. shafts were obtained for the cue by Dan. Same vintage with the good old shaft wood. That made this cue perfectly straight. Enjoy Nick.

Explain what a proing is .. Is the 5th veneer the colored line that runs down the middle of each point ? Cue hits like a monster

Hello Dan.

Yes as you say the point's proing is the inside solid ebony wood on this cue. Like a proing on the end of the devils fork! It has a veneer inside it almost like a long gun sight without a inlay at the top. Old stuff here.
I agree with it being a sweet hitter too. I wanted it for a smasher. And if it breaks better than my TS break/jump that is what it will be!

So the 5th veneer is the black line running straight down the middle of the point???

Isn't that the line that Leon referred to as epoxy in his thread last week?

that would not be a fifth veneer but rather an experimental technique in building prongs. Nice and rare either way.
Congratulations on a unique find

As I said.

The cue's finish is not origional. Bob Frey could fix it. I can stand it. What a solid cue. A epoxy line would not be exicuted on every proing. The veneers have shrunk or whatever it was and wood shrinks. The refinish was smooth and clean but they could have done better with the inside veneers shortcomings due to age.
Very few people can exicute that repair. Many can offer a low budget fix that most the time leave the cue worth exactly the same or less than if it were never touched though.
It is worth attention. And the value would be there. It just isn't hurting me to see it on a cue this old. Plays too good.
Even the pin suggest extreemely early Scruggs. Thanks for not touching it Leon. It has value.

Two same stitched brown wood Scruggs shafts! That amazed me when you told me it Bob. Love the shafts and hate the rotted tips.
Thank you too,

Nick :)
