Who's the "Worst" Pro

I'm a lot newer to the pool world than most of you folks here, though I'm almost Earls age. (Came to the game late in life, dammit. :p )

If I had the chance and the choice to meet any one pool player playing today, it would be Earl. Though it would be great to meet any number of todays awesome players, he would be my first choice.

Worst pro

Did you forget about Jack Hines and Cliff Joyner. Jersey Red Briet, cuss you out,and make a drunken sailor cry. All 3 dangerous men. Just my opinion.

Earl officially moved here about 6 months ago I think. He came down with one of his good friends Gary. And yes, Earl is from NC. Its great having him around.

I guess the last time I saw him would have been a few days after the SVB race to 100 on the 10ft table. Huh...Didnt realize it was that long ago.

Thanks petey... For the everyone though, if you wanna have the chance to meet the man, come down to Florida, right by Cocoa Beach, and find Chalkies Billiards. If you want to make sure he'll be there just ask me and i'll find out his schedule. For a $10 tournament, you get the opportunity to meet him, maybe play him, and try to beat him !

Yeah I hear ya... That was quite awhile ago, but he was living in Florida then at the time and just drove up or flew up cant remember. He played strong against SVB.

You still need weight.

i don't think that was his point. See, he was pointing to the fact that Earl S. is a piss poor excuse for a human being. In other words, he's suggesting that there is more to life than being "good" at a "sport" like pool. You should take that to heart and maybe your life wouldn't suck so much.

And the biggest point of all is this, not one of ALL OF US can say they have never lost their temper, tossed a stick on the table, raked the balls, slammed a rack, said something that was less than reasonable to an opponent. No one is perfect, so dont throw stones. Now seemingly how no one is perfect or unshakeable or isn't prone to some *****ing, it does come to the fact that you still need weight.
Go on youtube.com and watch Johnny Archer break a few sticks. Watch some of europes pro's talk trash. Ask some people that have been to these big events to see first hand what wasn't streamed live.

It's ok, you don't have to hold back. Wowzers!!!:yikes:

I thought Earl was from North Carolina. At any rate he is the best American 9 ball player in the last 30 years. Maybe ever.

I think it' s clearly Earl Strickland. Seriously, he's from Texas, his Mama doesn't seem to have taught him any manners??? Decorum??? He's "behind" and then the Yak Yak starts. Can anyone here describe Earl as a "Gentleman" with a straight face??? He has "flashes in the Pan" of civility, "the sun shines on a dog's ass once in-awhile" As Daddy used to say. Certainly he has talent.
I'm thinking that anyone that supports ES is ONLY thinking about his game, which by the way isn't near best in the WORLD these days. He's pretty much a Circus Side show at this point?
He's still a real threat, but most people would like him to just go away. If you think he is "entertaining" and "good" for the game--then I think U are in the minority.

Yeah, we all know that Earl has a bit of a temper sometimes, but I think that's just because he has such a deep passion for the tradition of the game.

You're still talking about THE BEST 9-Ball player of ALL TIME!! I wish I played half as good as he does when he's having an off day!!

Regardless of his antics now, he has done a hell of a lot for the game of pool!

What have you done for it?

I don't even know why I posted to this thread to begin with. Trigg was right. This thread is completely in bad taste!

I'm so tired of all these threads that bash on Earl and the APA. Both of these two are institutions that have promoted and done great things for the game that we love to play!! If you don't like either of them, than move onto a different thread and have a nice day! But don't start anymore useless threads, because we've heard all the complaints already!! Why do you waste energy on things you dislike? Do you have a passion for living miserably?

About Earl...

I understand the unsavory taste that Earl may have and in some situations purposely left in someone's mouth about him. You dont have to understand him like I do, and I consider myself a good friend of Earl's. He knows who I am, we have played regularly, he's even given me the best compliments I have ever received in my years of pool; " Chris, I am a World Champion player, and I dont make that shot look that easy. You have a stroke that is probably better than mine."- Earl strickland, he told me that when I full stick , full table jumped the 8 ball to make the 7 ball in the corner pocket and drew it back for perfect shape. And lastly, " You wanna hear me say it, well fine, I'll say it, you have a better break than I do, are you happy ?"- Earl Strickland.. LOL

He has his moments where he loses his cool and he has his moments where he can make an ass out of himself because he will start ranting about the table or some obnoxious noise or something, but he's also fun to sit and talk with, listen to stories that you couldn't have dreamt up and so forth. All im saying is dont go writing Earl off. He has gotten alot better in the last year or so. After all, he is a CHAMPION!
