I saw this billiards related item on Antiques Roadshow and thought I would share a link for those who don't normally watch it. It is a special eight ball that president Truman used and the details are in the script in the lower right corner.

While it is an interesting piece and has some provenance, I wouldn't value it as high as that appraiser. Truman wasn't even that popular of a president.

Well, yes and no. Truman was extremely popular (87% approval rating) during and after WWII, especially his decision to bomb Japan (twice) that effectively ended the war and saved countless American lives.

But then his approvals dropped like a lead balloon when he got mixed up in a little thing called the Korean confilct. He didn't even bother running for re-election in 1952. .

Either way, this would be way cool to own this item !!!

in 3 days I could have a copy of that on Ebay.....

Its a shame when someone pubically appraises something so highly...it makes the fakes come out of the woodwork, driving down the value of the originals.
