I misunderstood your question the first time, thought you were asking about the guys setting up a table in your house. If you're asking about tipping for table time, I've never done it. I've never even thought of it, and I've never seen it (though I haven't looked for it either).
Of course I tip the bartender or waitress if I've ordered food or drink.

I always tip when covering table time unless the counter person has cheated me in the past in which case I deduct about five times what they cheated me before tipping them again! :grin:
The tip isn't a big deal in the overall scheme of things, I often tipped ten times as much or more over the course of a night when I drank. It gets me small courtesies where I go regularly and I suspect that the tips are about break even although that isn't why I give them.
TiPS are originally "To Insure Prompt Service" so while it may not help much this trip if you only tip at the end of the day it may help in the future.

Long, long ago I worked in a poolroom and the ONLY time we were tipped for table time was when we stayed open later than usual for an action match to finish up.
Tips almost always came from drinks and food, though. The loose rule used to be that if anyone had to wash up after you left, you should tip them...
I don't tip for table time. Even if you go to a place (Hard Times, Sacramento) where they clean the tables after every use, the ball return counter help is very different from the table cleaner guy.

waitresses are only paid a couple of dollars and hour. Their salary is really dependent on tips. The people who hand out the balls are tip dependent. Tip is a nice gesture, but not required.
The waitresses who work in casinos do not get paid anything. The faster they work the more they make in tips.

As working owner (and by working, I mean I do everything), I never expect a tip. It seems most people figure owners don't need/want tips. I kind of figure whether they tip me a dollar or put it into one of the coin-op tables, I still get it...
As far as tipping for table time...it would never occur to me to do that. I don't tip the person taking my money at the movie theater...or the Walmart employee ringing up my new Budweiser Cue (okay...just kidding on that one...). I figure the set price is what I'm expecting to pay.
As far as tipping waitstaff...I'm all for it! However, I tip for service...meaning if I have CRAPPY service, I don't tip. If it's really good service, I tip over and above the "average".
If I have really crappy service, I have no problem informing management. However, I'm MORE LIKELY to seek out the owner or manager to inform them when I've had OUTSTANDING service...as I think most of us forget to pass on the positives when we have that "extra special" service from the person waiting on us...sometimes that can be as good or better than the tip we just left.

That right there is the key point, "To Insure Prompt Service". I have no problem tipping if I get that prompt service. I don't tip just because it's expected though. If a server wants a tip from me they have to work for it. Tipping has gotten out of hand. It's now expected regardless of the service they provide. I tell you what, if people go back to only tipping when it's deserved the food service industry will shape up real quick.

I've tiped the TD, but only if I cashed.
Any pool hall that serves booze and food, the cook and waitstaff always appreciate tips.

The places I play are small enough that the people working there do pretty much everything. As a result there is an umbrella affect, all of the staff quickly knows who are the good guys, bad guys, and run of the mill customers. I like being on the "good guys" list. Aside from anything else, if the poop does hit the fan and I get into an altercation I know I'll get the benefit of any doubts. Tipping increases my homefield advantage a little bit, never a bad idea!

OTOH, I used to play at a place in St. Louis that had such bad equipment I felt they should tip me for playing there
