Location for instructor lesson, VA

Hello all,

Just joined, although I've been lurking for awhile now. More to absorb than contribute at this point, although hopefully that will change sooner rather than later.

I'm located in northern Virginia and will be scheduling a lesson with an instructor soon. As I don't have my own table, any suggestions for a good PH to have the lesson at? I normally play at Hard Times, a local bar, but with the session being recorded, the music and other ambient sound would definitely pose a problem. I'm leaning towards Hi-Cue, although the same problems may arise, just to a lesser degree. As I'm paying quite nicely for the lesson, I'd really like to make sure I get the most benefit from it.

Maybe a bit odd to request, but if someone had their own table, I'd be willing to compensate you for the use and time, comparable to a PH rate. Just a thought.

Thank you all in advance!

My best place to record a lession would be fast eddys in fairfax at fairfax circle. If you can do it during the day it's dead there all afternoon.

Thank you! I've heard of the place, but never been. I'll check 'em out. Judging from the online information, definitely seems like a better, more accomodating location.

You might want to try Bobby Chamberlain at Hard Times in Woodbridge. He has a beautifu tight Diamond table in the back. Its dead during the day and im sure Bobby wouldn't mind. Plus if you get good enough maybe.... just maybe we'll let you play with the big dogs :p

Check out his website: www.bobbychamberlain.com

PM me if your intrested and maybe we can arrange something ;)

Fast Eddies in Springfield, have two gold crown tables (none smoking) isolated by walls and door, if i were you, rent both tables lock the door and will very quite, do it between 12 and 5 PM.

Also, Champion Billiard in Arlington works (the name is changing soon, and will be closing for renovation-not table renovation, under new owner. is quite between noon & 4:00 PM

Good luck.

Is the Champion Billiards in Arlington you are referring to the one that's owned by Billy?

How interesting! I wonder if Billy is going to open up another room somewhere. Thanks for the article link.

I think Billy was managing it, i am not sure if he had ownership in it or not. I know Billy tried to convince the previous owner to put new cloth on all tables, but owner refused. The place is struggling to make it as a pool hall, will see the new owner might spice it a little. Hope they keep smoking out of it, will see

Yeah, I see him play there all the time. I'm usually up there 3-4 days during the week. Not so sure its going to suit my needs though, as they keep the music pretty loud. Thanks for the suggestion though!

After I gain a little more consistency with my stroke so I don't make a fool of myself, I'm definitely interested in looking to play some better quality players. Right now its just me and my gf who normally play, and while she's decent, the challenge just really isn't there.

Again, thank you!
