If anyone can please tell me the name of the best poolroom in Los Angeles, I would appreciate it. I am working on a web series and need to talk to someone who owns a poolroom in L.A.
Thanks,
Jim
It really depends on what you feel makes a really good Pool Room. Here are a few rooms in the
LA area:
1. Hard Times (Bellflower) - #1 room, it has something to offer for every level of player (Pro, road player, seasoned amateur and amateur). 9ball, One-Pocket, 3 cushion tournaments available as will as an annual 10 Ball tournament. Leagues are available as well. Gold Crowns, Valley Barboxes and Verhoeven & Gabriel Billiard Tables
2. House of Billiards (Santa Monica) - One-pocket room!!! Gold Crowns
3. Butera's Billards (Moorpark) - Sal Butera's place...Small place but kept up very well...ALL DIAMONDS - small and big tables!
4. Shooter's (Riverside) - Depending on your speed...you might be able to find some cheap action as well as 9ball tournaments and barbox leagues (No Pros are permitted to enter the tournaments). Gold Crowns and Valley Barboxes.
5. Stix Billiards (Rancho Cucamonga) - A little bit of a drive from LA but a nice clean room. Owner is really good friends with the Filipino connection...you might witness the likes of players like Efren and Busty on occassion when in town. Amateur tournaments and Barbox leagues available. Gold Crowns and Valley Barboxes (I believe)
This is just my opinion but I would rate these as the top 5 in the LA Area (Not necessarily in that order although Hard Times would have to be #1)
Now, if you're an amatuer player that is looking to learn the game at the very basic level then I would suggest Danny K's in Orange, CA. It is a very friendly atmosphere with people willing to help you. They also offer 5 handicap tournaments (8ball and 9ball) per week as well as an in-house league. Keep in mind...this is for the amatuer that is at the learning stages. Don't get me wrong...there are the occassional strong players that show up but the handicap system is such that it makes it tough for the stronger player...but, they do welcome all levels of players...just keep in mind of the handical system (YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! :smile
If anybody objects...like I said, this is just my opinion. and you know what they say about opinions.
