Yep, you read it right. Dave is giving John the seven ball playing a race to 5 in nine ball for big bucks.
John isn't what you would call our best player but he likes to do a little gambling and he is showing Dippy some luv. lol The catch is that John has to play with a house cue that looks almost exactly like the "Crooked Cue" poster that W.C. Fields made famous. The first shot John miscued.
It is a riot to watch them but I have an early morning appointment at the VA so I thought I would take an early retirement.
Ronnie Wiseman is there and much talk about scotch doubles games being discussed.
Humphrey (Gerald Huber, the pool author of the Green Felt Jungle) came over and discussed some future gambling with Dave and Dave after being pressed by yours truly promised to give Humphrey a week long shot at him in December when Humphrey finishes coaching the football teams. There was lots of talk about giving Dave 10 big ones of action a day when he comes back to New Orleans for that week.
All in all, as in Mobile, Dave has provided excellent action and great entertainment and I am happy to report that he and Ronnie are getting their proper amount of rest between action sessions. Well, at least they haven't been in the pool room except for no more than a dozen hours at a time.
I can see it in Humphrey's eyes that he wants to play and bet high. Right now he is about as rusty as they come and everyone including Dave knows that if Hump plays it will not turn out good for him. Hopefully, a smart Hump will resist the urge to play right now and will wait until December when he is able to hit a few balls. Gerald doesn't play like he used to but he still has the gambling fever. We'll see how it turns out in December....
