Almost every show has something like this, why can't we work out something.

We have a post of the year winner, a runner up, and a 3rd place, and give out some pool prizes. I'll donate to the cause.

Not sure how the voting would work to prevent multiple accounts it would have to be people at least 1 being on the forum.

Would be fun.

Lifetime Achievement award goes to the Hitler dubbed TAR loss UTube Post......

2nd is the Rogan/Earl/TAR vid.......

Good idea. Better, I think, would be a best thread nomination, with the author of the opening post (known in these parts as the OP) getting credit for the thread. Grading would depend on votes from members (paid and otherwise).

Those threads could go into a separate forum classification.

I am afraid the voting for the best would go the way the rep system has gone, and be judged on popularity instead of content value to the website.

It would be like electing someone on personality instead of character.

How about funniest post and best thread etc. Maybe even worst post etc.

Several categories sound good

I agree. We don't want to do it like we elect our Presidents.

I agree, but it has to be designed and managed, so maybe one or two categories at first...

That one gets my vote for some category or another.

Jeffrey Weiss used to make monthly posts on RSB titled "Best of RSB" and naming a Post of the Month and a few runnerup posts. Any poster could nominate post or posts each month, and then Weiss unilaterally (and unapologetically) chose and posted the winners.

Here's a Best of RSB announcement from September 1997, awarding the honors for that month to Smorgass Bored, who at that time was a "relatively new participant" making his chops.

Subject: Best of RSB - September, 1997

Each month a distinguished Committee of one unnamed rsber will present the official "Best of rsb." This monthly highlight will be in recognition of those very special posts that simply stand out from the crowd. The guidelines are far too complex to go into, but suffice it to say that originality, content, humor, and - most importantly - the whim of the Committee will play a large role in the selections. The Committee's decisions are final, and intentional grovelling will be looked upon with much disdain.

While it intends to recognize only one or two posts per month, the Committee decided (unanimously) to award a single victor and a number of honorable mentions for September. The purpose is twofold: To give the group a bit more insight into the Committee's arcane judging process, and to help highlight the lighter side of rsb (a worthwhile endeavor given recent events). And without further ado, the "Best of RSB" for September, 1997:

The winning post comes from the frist week of the month, and from a relatively new participant. Welcome, Doug, and congratulations. The Committee would like to point out that it was only lukewarm on many of Doug's early offerings, however they were caught laughing out loud from this one, and had no choice but to give credit where credit's due. If nothing else, this indicates clearly the integrity of the judging process. The winning post:
