Help identify the joint material on this old Mali please...............

In the old Mali brochure I have the joints that weren't SS and looked like this were called CYRO. Don't know WTH it is but that's what it was called. Hope that helps.
It's probably "Implex" - it's been used quite a while for cue joints. You can try "ask the cue maker" to see where they get the stuff. Some makers still use it.
Problem is originally the butt and joint were considerably whiter, so if you use implex it's really going to stand out. compare the ferrule color to the butt, for example.
You might want to consider this instead - it will give it more of a subdued ivory look and it has some grain in it:

If you don't have someone lined up, I would call Scot Sherbine and get a price - might be $50 - $75 if he has it in stock.

Thanks Chris, I have my buddy doing the work on this one. Everything he
has in stock is considerably whiter than the material used, but I know
that the cue is old, and the color might be "aged" and darkened some-
what. I think he has some elforyn in stock, but thats also whiter than
whatever is on the cue right now. I think we'll go with that, and just
deal with the difference in color. Thanks again.
LOL, I'm getting the buddy discount.:thumbup: Tell ya what, the shaft
with this cue is dead, but I put on an old Biaggio shaft on this butt, and
even with the cracks in the joint, the darn cue hit pretty sporty. No bad
clicks or clangs. Nice firm hit.

I've got a Mali color Trophy catalog from 1986. Your cue is a Mali Trophy T-12. It doesn't say what they used but the hot ticket at that time was Implex. I have no idea what Implex is, but colored acrylic impact plexi is probably a good guess.
Even when new there was a stark difference between the joint color "white" and most of the buttcaps which were bone color. If your butt cap was refinished it would lighten up, but you would lose the logo. I would probably just go with whatever bone colored plastic best matches too and forget about it.
