I've seen the moose ,buckhorn - and 1 elk antlered cue from Desi- What do you cue makers think about the hit of Elk?? I've got Walrus tusk ferrules and there super. I found a local source where I can buy the forks (tips) off the antlers very, very cheap- here they are used for dog chews( 30.$ a FT.and say the dog will never grind them up!! thanks in advance mark

is considered to be ivory

And is illegal to have & use unless it is pre-ban & can be proven or else you are native Alaskan. Great stuff but a no no. My wife is Eskimo & i'm afraid to use the white stuff. She can use it for anything she wants but not me. That's why I use fossil stuff. The fossil stuff is just as good, only brown/yellow in color instead of white. If you have white walrus ivory, be very careful. Good stuff but could land you in jail if you profit from it.

Back to elk, it's not like moose or deer. It is very porous inside. Finding a piece solid for a ferrule is something I have never been able to do. Best thing for ferrules is Indian stag or moose. They have the least porous material & best white color.
