help finding a instructional class

I'm an average/decent shot in 9 and 8 ball. I'm interested in developing my game more by way of a instructional class or two. Any input on what would my best options are. I live in the southernmost and central most part of Virginia. So I'm close to NC. I would prefer to stay under or around $500 for a class and willing to travel some to a good class. I'm a skill level 6 in APA. I'd like to step my game up and compete in some tournaments.

While I'm posting. one more question. I'm looking to add a 9ft table to my basement and want a nice table that has tight tight pockets to make my game better. $5000 max budget. Any thoughts on the table. I like the Diamonds a lot.
Thanks

Pool School Frederick MD

Randy will be having a pool school Nov 18-20 in Frederick MD. I also do private lessons in Southern MD.

From your description finding something in Southern VA or NC would probably be better. I am sure that you should get some other responses soon.

I would start looking on Craigs list for a used diamond table. You can also buy a tourney used table direct from Diamond at a reduced cost (compared to new) That is the route I would take if I was in the market for one. Call them up and ask for Brian.

I know somebody local that has 4 diamond proam's (seven foot) that he is trying to sell, but if you have the room for a 9 that is what you should do.

thanks for the reply. Maryland wouldn't be a problem. What part might I ask. I have a friend near Lusby, MD. near the bay. and as far as the Diamond, would you consider that over Brunswick, Olehousen *sp, or a Gandy Big G? I seem to favor the Diamond, but I want whatever will help my game.

lessons

Garlan5, I have a proposition for you. I'm an advanced player in the Richmond Va. area and I'm putting the final details on a book about pool. It deals with ways to get to the next level. If you find yourself in the Richmond area, I'll expose you to some of the concepts and you can review them at your leisure. If you like what you see, the information and lessons would be FREE in exchange for your constructive feedback on the principles.

If you are interested I'm at RRICK33@Hotmail.com

The pool school is scheduled for Frederick MD I believe. Randy or Scott may chime in with the details. I will be there helping. BTW I live in Lusby too.

I have a Gold Crown II, and it is a great table but it is NOT a diamond. Look at it this way, go on ebay and look to see how many Diamond tables people are selling compared to Gold Crowns. That will give you an idea that the folks that have diamonds are keeping them.
