Cuba is a very safe place from what I've seen.

Dave I think it depends upon your definition of safe. Any country with the poverty rate that exists in Cuba can be a dangerous place to visit. While I suspect the majority of the population of Cuba are kind and considerate, at those I have met, people will still do some crazy things when they are down and out with no where to turn.
