In Santa Cruz there was only one pool room to go to for many years. I played there off and on many years since their inception. I won, lost, played and had fun, gaining action, making games. As time has gone by, players that matched up previously moved to other areas, but close to each other by the proximity of our area. We generally are in about a 100 mile radius. San Jose, Sacramento, San Francisco, Gilroy, Santa Cruz, San Rafeal. The freeway system around here means you can be at any of these location within a short period of time. Of course by going and making action in all these places, you get to know the players you want play or avoid.
In 2003 I fell and hurt my back. As a result I was out of pool for six or seven years. When I did try to play I attracted a lot of attention because my skills dropped so much. Now I have these little combines putting their nickels and dimes together to play some one pocket.
During a tournament a few weeks ago, a combine got a little spine and sent a very weak player to play for $200 a game. It was late at night and we only got to play four games. I said I would play the next day when the second half of the tournament. I showed up and got knocked out of the tournament. I was dead on my feet but ready to play again the one pocket game. The other guy showed up a few hours after I went home and to bed. Hey, I'm an old man who gets up at daylight to feed the animals and to fix breakfast for Mrs Kentucky. on the days she works, that means I get up at 4:30 PM to make coffee, turn on the heater, fix breakfast. After mornings like that I don't have the stamina to start playing at ten at night but I will play to closing and passed if I start early. Forget the next few days because I will be laid up.
Now here is the hitch. This combine wont put the guy in the box again and no one else will step up and play. Instead I am getting third party messages to play another weak player for $3-5K. I am not against playing the other player or anyone in the combine. I know I dont play as well as I used too. Bad back. Bad eye. No stamina. But I forgot more one pocket shots than anyone in the combine and they should go with the game they started.
I have told them this. Because they formed a combine to play me and sent someone to play, you play in the pecking order of the combine.
If they dont want to play, say it. Theres lots of players I cant play anymore, its no big thing to not to be able to beat someone, even an elderly, blind cripple.
I think playing the combine in the pecking order is a good position to represent. Instead they want to jump the bucket and send someone else to play. Not that I haven't barked at all of them at every tournament, pool room, restaurant, pool thread there is. What is it with "pool players who claim they want action but always are playing the dead locks in the room and ducking real games? I have been laid up for two days now with crippling back and leg pain, but tomorrow, I'm playing, pain or no pain.

Tell them you have a 72 year old friend who will give any of them 9/7 (Your $$ of course)

action at CBC

Kentucky,
Man, I have started to get cabin fever. I have been recovering for the past 6 weeks and feel like playing some One Pocket again. I will try you some, since noone else has the heart to step up, my heart got a tune up recently and I need to test it out. I have a Dr. Appt on thursday, but I can play on Wednesday if you are available. I think 9-7 is fair, I will try Johnny even too. Either way I miss playing. Dont expect me to run 8 and out either. I can only play for 6 hours at a time if that is okay.

And you still can't spell the name right? You practically helped build the place, remodeled it, and lived in it. It is Eddy's Bill. And although I didn't name it originally I take pride in the possessive name. lol.
And I probably could play you anytime, day or night.

Maybe this will help;)
