Another bad ass case. The construction method lends itself well to this kind of expression. Figuring out how to put the leather pieces together securely and lastingly is always a challenge for leather workers. This a refreshing new way to do it with the metal binding. Being able to glue two pieces of leather up in unconventional shapes and clip them together with metal rings really adds another dimension to the art of case making and takes into the realm of sculpture. I wish I had the stones to go this far out.

Eliminating the sewing and using a lot of rivets saves a ton of time and allows for some amazing designs.

Nice job. Can't wait to see what other pieces you all come up with.

Out Of This World !!!

Well...looks like Phil has done it again !!!

This thing looks like it's ready to pounce and tear someone or something to shreds!!

''Black Death'' is a very suitable name for this masterpiece from Mr. Eastwood.

This should come with a cage to carry it in,, a tetnus shot and ''Billy the Exterminator'' just in case it gets loose,,,or at the very least, be sitting chained and on display at Paris's ''Louve'' Museum......!!

A work of art that's built like a Mack truck,,,,Mr. Eastwood is from another planet,,,way to go sir,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,!!

Not true at all.

Its much easier and less time consuming to machine sew two pieces of leather together than having to punch holes, hand install each rivet one at a time, then set each rivet one at a time.

Not trying to start a war here......just correcting misinformation.

Wow

Can you imagine trying to focus on a match winning shot with that on a table ----watchin you! Stunning, any interior pics?

Of Venomous Tusk and Thunderous Hoof. The internet makes linguists of us all. Makes for a more ominous presentation-dont you think? And for the superstitious, it might just give you that edge you need.

Wonderful, creatively done case that is likely a 10.0 on the difficulty factor.

.......Not talking about rivets vs. sewing, but just the planning, design, layout, material choices, and then the ability to pull it all together in such a way that it looks like something you`d want when it is all done!

Amazing. Again, I give this case a 10.0 !!!!! Great Work Phil!!!

True if all your parts are machine sewn. However it's impossible to construct a case like this with machine sewn seams. So the seams would have to be hand sewn and hand sewing takes much longer than rivets. Even doing a case the way you do it would only allow for one side to be machine sewn and the last connection to close the loop on the back would need to be sewn by hand UNLESS you have a special up-the-arm sewing machine. Even with such a machine the process is slower than normal and as Grady likes to say, fraught with danger with it being easy to get off the line and ruin the piece.

I think that Phil understands that using metal rings to bind all the seams is certainly faster than if he chose to sew all these parts together. And it also lends a major amount of artistic flair to the pieces. It also allows for shapes to be created that would even be nearly impossible to sew well by hand.

Lastly regarding the rivet setting. I have a jig make it much easier and consistent. If you like I can send you some pictures of the tool we built for this purpose.
