Which are the 3 best break shafts?

Is there any difference in using a break shaft on the original break cue butt and using it on a playing cue butt? If yes, please explain.

The best break shaft is the Mezz Deep Impact Pro.

There is not much difference in terms of break butts and playing butts, you just have to find one with a balance and weight that you like (although the tennis like grip on some break cues can be a plus).

For you maybe it is the Mezz Deep Impact Pro. My opinion varies considerably as I"m sure others will. My assertion is there is not one singular "best" break shaft that everyone will agree with.

I'm partial to the Mace break shaft by Rick Howard. I also like a couple of purple heart break shafts I have. Like many things regarding pool. I think it's very much a matter of personal taste. To the OP, try before you buy. Find something you like then seek instruction. After instruction put in the dedicated focused practice to maximize your performance.

i think LD shafts are fantastic for break shafts, gives a lot more room for error. for playing, the debate over LD will rage on until the end of time, but for breaking i think it's a lot more obvious. The BK2 is the best of them IMO, and the Poison Venom is probably the best value for the buck. The OB Break is also pretty good, but I wish the taper was a little stiffer. Honorable mention to the Mezz Deep Impact Pro, works particularly well on the mezz break butts.
