i have noticed mocking and talking, i am trying to get others into playing 10-ball and have heard a few comments mocking me, directed directly to me.

I would say go to a church, not a pool room.

I agree. Sometimes nothing if funnier than people talking sh**. We've got a ton of people in my poolhall that can't play nearly as well as they can talk trash. I just sit back and enjoy their stories as they get bigger and more far fetched!

I love pool room gossip and the more outrageous the better. A few months ago there was a rumor about one of the local players being murdered because his best friend was sleeping with his wife. 1st. People that know the player, know he isn't married. two He posts on facebook almost every day. I go to the pool room to make money, not to socialize. If I wants friends, I sure would not pick a place that degenerate, sociopaths hang out. It's like looking for a wife in a bar at 2pm. I never would play in a league either. I don't really want to be around the same people every week. I am not a team player.

I can understand if they talk about you at your church. It goes like this, "Does he really gamble with those eyes?", "He smells like pool chalk, don't they have locker rooms at those places", and lastly, "He brings a different one every week. I wonder what he has they find so interesting?":grin::thumbup:

Its all in your perception.You can see it as a negative or a positive.This is what I tell myself "we are all friends here"...of course this is not necessarily the truth but it is one way to look at things.

I think gossip and rumor are all normal no matter where you go... unfortunately. Whether it's the pool hall, the bar, work, school, etc... People love to cap on other people. Somehow it makes them feel better about themselves. I bet it's somthing instilled in us from human evolution... It's in our DNA.

Like a few others have said, the best thing you can do is lean to ignore it. If have the opportunity to confront somebody about it, you may choose to, but don't expect much, it won't stop the gossip.
