I have notice since ive been here, and i have been here for a long time(5 years or more just reading without posting)almost every thread there will be atlease 1 azer that will be negative no matter what, who really cares that the nic name THE MAN is already taken,we got an older man here doing what each and everyone of us wish we could do,go very deep in the US OPEN,and some of u r going to cry about using a nic name for this competitor,go cry else where,i bet if it was 1 of u guys doing what STAN is doing it would b different, wouldnt it!KEEP HITTING THEM STRAIGHT ,STAN THE MAN,now dont nobody get comfused, iam talking pool not baseball, this is az billiards after all!

Great post and well said. The hate runs deep on this forum, doesn't it?

I never heard of Stan Musial. So am I allowed to call Stan Shuffet "The Man"? Or are the nickname police going to swoop in and arrest me. I bet Stan Lee has been called Stan the Man a few times as well.

It's not just about Stan (the man) though. It's about the inspiration he is providing after all the attacks on him and what he teaches.

It's just NICE to see an instructor who has been attacked so many ways going deep in the open.

The fact is that Stan will probably be the first to say that what he teaches IS a foundation for everything else to come together to perform at a high level.

So he is simply proving that he can eat his own cooking and get fat doing it.

Can't rep ya again. You obviously get it.

Who was the original Earl the Pearl?

Who was the original Kentucky Colonel?

John,

CTE (not Pro 1) has been attacked many times for not being all that it was cracked up to be; but I don't ever recall any personal attacks on "Stan the Man" Shuffett.

Keep going, Stan!

Roger

No, you started this to stir up shit. Plain and simple.

You also discredited Stan's true skill by implying that it is only his aiming system that has gotten him this far.

At the level of talent there, placing so well goes way beyond any aiming system used. That level of play is all between the ears.

To keep up that level of play over a period of time goes way beyond any aiming systems used. That is determination not a aiming system.

It's not the aiming system used, but how you use what you got.

Some just, like you , can't get over the fact that some find CTE/PRO 1 useless.

Duckie, you Lou and a few other naysayers just have to have your day in the sun, even if it is at the expense of others like Stan who have devoted a large portion of their life to pool. You HATERS enjoy dirtying up the water wherever you go, just so you can have your day in the sun

You don't have a clue what SpiderWebComm was doing with his post so go spread your hate somewhere else.

Stan Shuffett's CTE/Pro1 is a cornerstone of his talent, a great aiming system that he uses on every shot, and one that he teaches in his pocket billiard classes.

Stan has given back to the pool world more than you or Lou will ever be able to do in your entire lifetimes. CTE/Pro1 is likely to become the aiming system of choice for pocket billiard enthusiasts for generations to come.

.

It's really pathetic of you and Lou to get in this thread and taint the thread with your HATE.

Then you are BLIND Roger.
Sorry.

Man if this is what its like to go deep in a major tourney, I hope I never have to worry about it. Seems like people need to learn to say "Nice job" and move on with their life.

I'm rooting HEAVILY for Stan -- at the time of this writing, he's 5 - 5 with Daryl Peach!

Now, as to this thing with nicknames, I personally think most of them are BONEHEADED. (This flies directly in the face of Jamison Neu's observation that pool players, or even us pool fans, are "geniuses.")

While some say that "Stan the Man" could be heavily plagiarized from Stan Musial (JB, obviously you don't play any sports ;) ), to me, it's an innocuous nickname compared to some of the awesomely dumb ones. I mean, really, "Niels 'The Terminator' Feijen"? (Niels doesn't look anything like Ahhhhnold. Niels has a more striking resemblance to Dolf "I must break you!" Lundgren than anyone else.)

And, as another easy boneheaded example, "Dennis 'RoboCop' Orcullo"? (I can just picture Dennis' face and broken English upon first hearing he got tagged with the RoboCop nickname... "What is RoboCop? Is fishing lure?")

"Mika 'The Iceman' Immonen"? (Nevermind that this nickname was filched from the more-deserving Larry Hubbart, Mike wears his emotions on his sleeve! Ralf Souquet is a much better example of an iceman than Mika.)

And let's not even get into Ralf's nickname of "The Kaiser," which is a glaring example of us culturally-neutered Americans wanting to apply "genius" labels to everything.

But WWE we are, and the gheyness prevails...

Go, Stan, go!

No need to reopen old wounds. Stan himself felt attacked personally and he has been called a snake-oil salesman among other things.

Most of it is available to research in the many threads on this subject.

As for any particular methods of aiming, maybe they are all that they are declared to be. Maybe the next few years will see them finally getting their due as they are better explained AND as the open users of them begin to post better results.

Stan, one away from tying it up with Daryl Peach at 8-8 racing to 11.

Wish this match was on the TV Table....
