Follow or draw it which ever you are more comfortable with. Personaly I would draw it and not use follow. Too many things can go wrong when using follow. At least with my game
The draw shot to the top right corner is an option, but may be a bit of a stretch on a 9'er. I agree that the follow shot to the top left corner is the better choice. As mentioned, all you have to do is get past the 3 and your home free. If you don't have good enough speed control for the follow, then you don't have enough CB control for the draw. Go too far and the 2 will go in the bottom right corner or, worst case, you would have a real nice safety shot.
Shoot it in the side and follow to the center of the table or shoot in the corner and come off the rail to the center. Best position, safely, is the center of the table.
several things one can do .,play safe off the one ball, get 3 fouls on him , draw with angle , straight draw, follow , or follow 2 maybe three rails, i would draw with an angle
I would be following straight down the table all day long. Even if I over follow I have a good chance of a safety, forcing him to win it rather than give it him.
Alex's choice required more precision and I think is a bad choice for 99% of players. But with his level of skill, plus the best table conditions then his shot deserves merit. Doesn't mean it's the right shot for everybody else though, but the theory behind the shot is sound.
The plus two system isn't only for kicking balls, it can also be used in situations like this. On the final rack Alex had a similar shot and played it differently and came up short but cut the ten in for the win.
