Hopefully all those with BRW realize the amount of deforestation involved in obtaining these woods. All BRW that enters the states now is either stump wood, certified through the CITES or illegal. Introduced in 1900 and revised in 2008 to combat the illegal lumber trade. China holds the crown with 2/3 of all illegally farmed lumber being purchased by them. If people are concerned with ivory and elephants, think of deforestation and extinction of multiple species for a piece of wood.

It is our responsibility to be good stewards to the land, our kids get it next, why not make it better.

It is amazing to see an old Szamboti that one can identify the points as honduran rosewood. I'm assuming Barry still has the specs from his dads ledger. The Dalbergia Family is large and difficult to distinguish from each other at times.

Just throwing my .02 in.

My cue is a Barry and I am pretty sure that it is old stock from his Dad collection of woods. I had the cue custom made for me and we decided on the contrasting woods for a reason. He also wrote the bill of sale to specify what materials were used, so I don't see any reason for not trusting Barry on the type of woods.

As for your concerns for trees, start another thread if you are not happy with the prior discussions (use search). The topic has been discussed along with the use of Ivory among other things.

Here are pics of my Klein cue.
I could not be happier with the design and execution of the cue.
It is now my daily player and do not see that changing for many years.

Here's a couple of pics of my personal player. The cues that I make for myself are usually very simple. On this one I decided to treat myself a little, brw forearm with ivory/Sterling silver rings at the joint and an ivory box ring in the butt. And I used an old westinghouse micarta ferrule. This cue hits HARD. Hope you enjoy the pics
