The rails on the TAR table people have called them fatboy rails. Im wondering what are fatboy rails and what is the difference with regular ones?

There is a member here on AZ who has the nickname fatboy, he also
has a Diamond table and had his table setup by the realkingcobra.

These rails have tight pockets (4 1/8") and he (fatboy) loaned them
to TAR to use on their table. Hence, fatboy rails.

Ok that makes sense I was thinking there were wider or something but they looked the same so I had to ask thanks

I was watching an Earl vs Busti match on youtube and saw rails that didn't look quite right. I captured this screen shot:

Did the table mechanic do that on purpose, to make sure balls would get past the points? Or is the rubber just showing signs of "normal wear and tear"?

Improper installation for this table which is not the TAR table.

Absolutely. The pockets are big too. Espn and others want runouts, not misses. TV ratings are whats important to them.

the people arent refering to the tar table as being "easier". Thats a different table in the picture.

I guarantee you I've seen the over sanding of the points of the side pockets at least 100 times, it's done at the factory level when the facings are installed, and NOT done by a table mechanic, unless the table mechanic is a total hack. What you're looking at...is a factory done job on the side pockets, and NOT done that way because of ANY TV promotion or match play, that's just your normal everyday factory work being done!

WE are talking about the table used in the TAR matches. I believe the pockets are 4 1/8" and they say it plays tough so they are far from buckets.
