I'm in New Orleans for a few weeks. Been to Buffalo's a few times. Today I ask my wife to drop me off at the corner pocket for some practice. Sorry Jamie, but I'll never go there again. It's so smokey I can't hardly breathe. I walked a mile in the rain to Starbucks and wait for my wife.

What the help is wrong with people that they want to slowly kill themselves.

I'm glad Michigan and most other states have banned smoking.

After being away from it for a while it's quite a shock to relive even for 5 minutes isn't it? If they brought old smoking rules back here I would quit pool in a second and never look back.

I used to spend many hours at a time in smokey pool halls. Couple years back I went to a pool hall in Vegas where there was smoking. I lasted 20 minutes and had to leave.

Pool

I know that if I am in a new town and can find a pool table I am on it smoke or no smoke as long as I can play pool. I guess I just enjoy the game.

Yeah! YEAH!!! Harumph Harumph Harumph!!!

I don't like it or agree with it, so I am going to make rules about what you can or can't do in your pool hall! Not like I can chose to not go there, I HAVE to go to your pool hall, so if I don't want it, that's what's up!

I freaking hate those drunk asses too! F*ck those guys! All loud and sh*t. Smelling like alcohol, destroying their liver, killing people when they drive. Let's all band together, no more alcohol!!!!!

Hello?

Anyone?

Hhmmmmm......

You would think with all of these non smokers available and packing total unity.some body could go to any town and open a non smoking poolroom next to any old room and bust them out in 60 days.plus add a 50 cent premium to all prices that the old room had.the non smoking patron will take and embrace your business and help it be a fabulous success. you would think that new rooms opening will out pace Starbucks catering to the non smokers.some body needs to post a link to the hundreds of new non smoking rooms opening by non smokers for non smokers.

I take it you don't drive a vehicle, or feed your kids red meat, huh?:p

I actually don't drive a vehicle anymore, but I do see your point :)

On the red meat, I guess anything can be bad for you. Who knows, maybe carrot juice can kill you :)

The smoking isn't the problem. It's the cheap a$$ room owners that won't put in a ventilation system to manage the smokey air. I've played in rooms that have air circulation with smokers and never gave the smoke a second thought. My opponent could be smoking and it wouldn't bother me.

I play in smoking pool rooms and notice the absence of players when the smoke gets thick. I also notice there are fewer female players, too. That has to be a double whammy for room revenue. If I take a lady friend to a poolroom, it will be non-smoking.

Best,
Mike

The libertarian in me says that government has no right in dictating to a business what they can or cannot do as long as it is legal - and smoking is legal. Ultimately the consumer dictates. We choose to or not to patronize a business establishment. I don't smoke. I don't like going to smoky places. However, I love to play pool. So I deal with it.

Here in Georgia, as opposed to banning smoking in all public places like most states, the option was given to business to either be smoke free, or no one under 18 can work nor frequent the place of business. Obviously, most pool rooms are smoking due to their clientele.

I mainly play at MBC, and the ceilings are high, and most of the times the smoke eaters are on at night. Still go home smelly smokey though.

It's biz is strong.

All I can say is,,,even us smokers don't like a place filled badly with smoke.
Sounds like they need some ventilation.

Reminds me back when ,at my job,,I used a cutting torch all day long,,,every day,,for years.
A group of office people came back and was talking about my job, conversation involved topic of getting burned. One person said something like,,,,, "well you do this every day so you are used to getting burned"!!! "And it don't bother you!!"
Like I'm immune to it!!!

LMAO. Nope ,,that fire hurts me just as bad as anyone,,,and a smoke filled room makes my eyes burn too.

I second that on the torch been there done that many many times. them fumes aren't good for you either but you can weld and use torches at work but not smoke in the same area go figure.
