Im looking for some advice. I play with a jacoby right now. I really like it, but i want to get a complete custom cue made. I am to that point. Curious what your advice would be. I dont want it to take forever, but I also want someone good to deal with. I live here in montana so John madden is popular here. Curious what your opinion would be?

Thanks..

Terry

Kenny Murrell, builds great cues, excellent communication during the building process. I have had 3 cues made and one one the way, all three were delivered on time.

I'd recommend you consider Dave Kikel in Pueblo Co. He's currently building me a new cue and was terrific to work with. Time line for completion is acceptable and he went out of his way in helping me with the design. His 20+ years of experience combined with his easy demanor made it a no brainer for me. I have played with one of his cue since 2005 and am excited to be getting a new one.

Bob Owen of Shurtz Custom Cues is also a great choice. His turnaround time is reasonable, his customer service is excellent and, most importantly, his cues are sweet players.

I second that

for Bob Owen. I have known Bob 30 years. He is meticulous in his work, and is great to work with. I plan on having him build me another cue next year. And his cues hit sweet.

if you shoot with a jacoby now why not have dave build you what you want. They do more than lust let you select the woods you want. When i ordered mine over phone not the website i specified weight balance point diameter joint size and type wood selections and other features they dont offer as a rule. I am more than pleased and they nailed it and its the best player i have ever shot with.

John Bender....Richard Black's apprentice....makes incredible cues....incredibly priced...great craftsmanship...

Got emails thru the build process....photos as well..

I know he has a easy half dozen cues in the works now..

You do know that Jacoby can do complete customs, right? If you like how the cue you have now plays, then it would be a no-brainer for me...unless there is someone else's cues you'd like to check out. But, if it ain't broke...don't fix it....LoL!

Jacoby only has a 4 - 5 month lead time, and this month has a special where they will throw in a matching heavy hitter break cue with order.

That sounds like it should be..."Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!!"

Holy crap! That really is a helluva deal!

thanks everyone... i know about jacoby... just wanted to see what the public response was... thats all... I like the hit of a jacoby, but have heard great things about bender cues as well... thanks for the advice!

If this is your first true custom order....I still strongly feel that going with another Jacoby is the best way to spend your money on a first truely custom cue. They are a very reputable shop, and have outstanding customer service. They are more than capable of meeting both your needs and your budget. If you like the way your current Jacoby hits...then I'd say stay with the same joint....but from there, the world is your oyster. Ideally, you'll be able to move between cues, as the need/location dictates, with little to no effort. Enjoy the journey!

Allen Hopkins Expo

If you can make it to Philly March 8 -11, a lot of the custome cue makers will be there and all there cues will be there with verious cue brokers.

Its a good place to talk cues, hit some balls with them and buy or order one.

I couldn't agree with you more ... I have had one of Dave's cues for almost 10 years now. It's an amazing piece of wood that has Dave's personal touch. It hits great and feels even better. I'd go with a Kikel anytime I could find one.

Adam Franks out of New Mexico... Everything is a one of a kind, all wood no veneers and natural materials. Worth the bucks for what you're getting.

Excellent choice in Jack Madden.

Also an excellent choice in the Jacobys.

There are 500-1000 cuemakers out there. Unless you're some crazy cue buyer (like many of us are), I can't imagine why one of those two choices wouldn't do it for you.

Mike Bender or Jim Buss. Both make great cues and you won't have to wait forever to get your cue. Good luck with your choice.

madden made in montana

I had jack make my cue in 07. Play with it daily, looks as good as the day i got it.jack stands behind his work 100% if there's a problem he takes care of it.rose wood & curly maple no wrap stainless joint tiger stripe shafts ivory ferrules.hits a ton, took about 2 months with my specs . Nothing like made in montana!
