I'm halfway through my Kamui Chalk..and I can say for sure I'm addicted to this stuff...
It does increase the play area of the CB for me..and because I don't miscues easily with this chalk on, I'm get more confidence in using more extreme English. This could be psychological...cos I automatically ease up on playing extreme English or deep draw shots when I'm not using Kamui..
It's also annoying once you get used to Kamui...you forget the necessity to chalk frequently..I used to chalk after every shot whether I need it or not..after using Kamui I go 4-8 shots without chalking, I know I can go longer without chalking but I just don't feel right.. Here's where the problem lies, when you're out playing and you don't use Kamui...I keep forgetting to chalk and I miscue...prior to using Kamui this wouldn't have happened..
Oh and this chalk works great for Break Cue and Jump Cues...cos those hard tips or phenolic tips don't take chalk on easily but Kamui stays on them..
For all the haters I'd say try it!

I've got guy in the pool room who bought a piece, loves it, and now charges other players .50 to try it. They get to try it cheap, and his piece is costing less all the time. Every day he comes up to me and says "I'm down to 14.50 net cost on the chalk, and it still looks new." I'm thinking about keeping a piece in the till. I do believe, by the way, that there is less deflection. I thought so when I posted about deflection and Kamui chalk before ('$25 for a piece of chalk is ridiculous' thread #78, FWIW), and now that I've tried it, I'm convinced. Also, a bit more spin means a bit more throw, which also reduces the effects of deflection, a bit.

I bought seven pieces of Kamui in June and am barely half of the way through my first piece. It seems to last forever, and my hands, shafts and table are all significantly cleaner than when I used Master.
I normally chalk up lightly between racks, if that, and have been very impressed with how it plays. At my rate, I won't be buying chalk for several years, so the price is well worth it.
I did hear from one seller that Kamui had plans to release a full-sized version, apparently called V1.0, but don't know what the price would be or if it will even happen. Either way, I am sold on this stuff.

After it being halfway down the kamui dried up on me and yes, miscue was the word of the day for me. When it dries up (not like a pasty look to it anymore), it tends to be brutal on your tip. Someone recommended I toss in the mic for a few secs. I looked at him like an alien, lol. No, I've since lost the zip lock bag to it and was just keeping it inside a blue diamond box in my pool case.
I think I'm done with it. Tried it. Gave it a whirl. But for me? Hell no. Why would I wanna use chalk at a very steep cost (compared to competitors), that I need to keep inside a zip lock?! Oh yea, the rep tells me to use the kamui gator grip on my tip so that the chalk holds on better. Isn't that the point of getting this $30 piece of chalk above others??

Whatever. I like things to be described accurately. if that bothers you then that is your issue.
I described the texture and consistency of the chalk to my wife and she immediately said that it sounds like corn starch is one of the ingredients. She broke out the corn starch to show me and, ya know, I think she may be on to something. In fact, as an experiment, I plan to hit some balls for a while tonight using nothing but corn starch as chalk. This should be fun. 
Edit: Actually, I think I'm going to grind a little Master chalk into the corn starch and try that concoction.

Well, going back to your sports car pricing analysis I'd say that the span between .15ct Masters and $30 Kamui should be incentive for lots of people to begin reverse engineering the Kamui chalk.
All high prices on anything does is encourage people to get in on the action.
Generally this leads to a better product at a lower price or at least a comparable product at a lower price.
I don't just like it. I require it. But that's another matter. :thumbup:

I think you are bothered though. It would seem the issue is yours and regards what you think is accurate It's pool chalk. In the big picture I really don't care if you feel it is more the consistency of walrus semen, Maybelline foundation, Vegemite, or gorilla smegma! LOL!
I dunno....maybe you haven't looked up paste lately and just assume your perception of the term is correct, or that it is the only one, or perhaps the most precise one. Or maybe because I have a science background I lean more toward a different definition than you might. Maybe I tend to be more precise while others tend to use more common and/or loose interpretations of such terms. Maybe that's why what you feel isn't accurate actually might be more accurate and you may not even be aware of it.
Without looking it up, my interpretation (and intended meaning) of the term was and is: a soft and/or malleable mixture.....(from chemistry and the physical sciences)
I believe the meaning is accurate, precise, and suits what I observed quite well. It is soft. It seems malleable. And it is almost certainly properly termed a mixture.
Maybe you were thinking more of toothpaste? Or maybe Butt Paste? LOL!
In any case it bothers me not if you don't feel it's accurate.

If we can get a group of people to kick in for the cost of a lab to analyze the ingredients, I'll start the pot and offer to throw in $100 just out of sheer curiosity (hey, I can't pay the whole bill - I'm one of the guys who won't even spend $30 for my own cube! lol).
I imagine it couldn't be too expensive to have that done, could it? Anyone here have any experience with such things?
I do. But not commercially, only academically. I would expect such a thing to be a bit pricey from a commercial lab actually.....but I don't know.
They could do some spectrum analysis. That's a start.
Anybody in materials sciences at a university? We could get it done for free if an AZBer is in materials sciences at a university.......
Heck I could probably do some simple spectral analysis here at my desk. I have a Bic lighter...... :wink:
I could have some put under an electron microscope....:thumbup: But we quite frankly wouldn't know what the heck we were looking at anyway.....

Gee, for someone who doesn't want to "argue" the point and who thinks it's "silly" to do so you are arguing it quite a lot.
Paste has a certain feel and texture and MEANING to the common man. Yes, when we little people hear the word paste we think of tooth paste and butt paste and a gooey substance.
Since you weren't clarifying that you were giving us you scientific analysis I went with the common view of paste as is used everywhere.
And in that frame of reference Kamui chalk is NOTHING like paste in my opinion. Having done several videos on the stuff I'd have to say that my experience with it trumps yours in this case at this point. However I will concede that with your scientific background you probably figured out all the chemical components at first touch and thus have it accurately classified as pastus asshulus maximus.
Now are you going to continue the silly arguing, your characterization, or are you going to let it go?
