Break/jump cue shaft size

Just wanted a pro opinion, I have a break cue and the shaft is over 13, I was thinking of having a pro taper to about 12.75. My hands are kinda small and I feel I could get more power on my stroke. What do you folks think? Thanks in advance for you suggestions. Tom

Going from 13mm to 12.75mm will do nothing for your power on your stroke.

Stick with the 13mm with a pro taper. It is stiff enough.

Something to know about break-shafts.
If the shaft buckles on impact with the QB, that's lost energy that's not making it through the ball.
Doing a T/D on a break-shaft makes no sense to me, small hands, fat fingers or whatever.
You won't gain anything with a smaller dia. break-shaft.
What you will do is lose power in your break and turn an otherwise decent break-shaft into something
that is no longer suited to it's intended purpose.
JMO but then my break-shaft is 14mm.

I was told one time that a 14mm and 19oz cue was optimum for breaking. I didn't see any data to support this so I don't know if it was scientifically proven. But I have broke with a 14mm flat lam shaft and I could tell a little better pop.

What about jumping? A friend of mine has a Gulyassy, turned well down, and it jumps fantastically. I don't know how it compares to an unturned down shaft, but it's great.

Does turning it down hurt the break, but help the jump?
