What skills do you need help with?

How to walk away with the money!

Keep it in your pocket and don't bet it! lol... Seriously though, we are considering bringing some other players in to do 'guest appearances' in some of the videos. Since I don't gamble, I will see who I can get to talk about this subject a little.

Not kidding here... we are working on the outline for the next free video and it is on 'shooting off the rail'. Adding 'Jump Shots' to the list. Thanks for the feedback.

I agree with 'shooting off the rails' as a topic you should cover. I rarely see anyone talking about it other than to complain that the rail was the cause of a miss.

Hey Charlie, how about a video of how to remain focused on pool after a beautiful, well-endowed, scantilly-clad woman walks by you in the poolhall and is playing on the table next to yours. You know the one, the one that everything in the hall comes to a complete stop when the cueball is out in the middle of the 9-foot table and it's HER shot .

Be sure to include LOTS and LOTS of examples of the various "distracting forms of attire" such as low-cut blouses, Daisy Duke shorts, and the like .

On a more serious note, I'd like to see some something along the lines of "kicking using english" maybe one coupling kicking with the diamond system using english.

Good luck to you Charlie, and thanks for the instruction!!!

Maniac

Wow... I don't even know how to answer this one. Can't help you there. Maybe someone else will give you some suggestions.

Kicking is on its way but will be more than one video. Single rail kicks, multiple rail kicks, kicking safe, etc... it is a lot of info. Stay tuned...

Good idea

I just want you to know I think it was a great idea for you to come on here and ask for suggestions on your videos.

I know I appreciate it, and I am sure many others do also.

Precise 1 rail position. Specifically with the object ball that's being made close to or on the rail. Multi-rail position seems to be so much easier to me.

Hillbilly...you showed me a little technique on how to practice stroking straight at the dcc a few years back...stroking down the cue. You should share that with everyone....it's really helpful.

No problem.

Eat White Castle approx. 20 mins. before you play.

No man or woman would be dumb enough to stick their head up there after White Castle.

OMG...ROTFLMFAO!!!!! That was just perfect...thank you very, very much!

X-Breaker

I see you're still using the X-Breaker break cue in your break trailer. Is that the same one that you used when you were timed at 34.7 mph? Do you use this routinely in your regular play? Thanks!
:p

I'm still using the same X-Breaker that I got from Richard.... It was the only proto-type made by Joss before he started having Samsura make them. Then he went out of business.
No it is not the cue I hit 34.7mph with.

Anyone heard anything about Richard and how he's doing?

I have to save some stuff for the videos and this is one of the highlights of the fundamental video that I'm gonna do. :D

Adjusting for swerve is my achilles. I imagine it comes down to speed and practice but, if there's a system, Id like to hear it.

Swerve

This is a toughie because their are alot of factors that come into play. One being the type of cue, next the speed that you are hitting the shot, third is amount of diamonds between the cb and ob, and last but not least how much english that you use. I will put this on my list for future videos. Thanks for the input.

In The Moment

This is probably not a response that answers the specific "what skills do you need help with?" question, but if I may try to explain what I think a most desirable video would be. A professional player in a match, who while wearing a tiny microphone, would record their thoughts as they proceed in the match. So many times have we, as students of the sport, have been left to wonder why a player chose that route, or what possibly could he or she have been thinking. Such a video might relate aspects not only of analytical strategy, but as well the human side of it. How many times have I wondered what a player must feel as he is dominating a match, or conversely sitting in the chair watching it all unfold against him. A video describing those intimations may be more than difficult, but as well might generate a lot of interest.

Practice

What is the best way to practice. Is it drills, playing the ghost, straight pool I've been playing for years and really don't know. Why don't you tell us how you practice, what seems to work for you and maybe what doesn't also? THANK YOU

Where did you get that picture? I like it!

I personally use drills to strengthen my skills of the years, but if the drills aren't good drills then they are counter productive and cause more problems than anything else. Everything I teach are based around a certain skill and are always building on things to come later. When I first start back to get ready to go play I always practice speed with nothing but the cue ball and then start applying those speeds to different cut angles.
